February 27, 20233 yr I don't know what to do. Last night I was just configuring some controller settings and everything was working fine. Today when I try to open the sim, Steam starts up and then nothing, I don't even see the sim begin to come up. When it happened I tried without starting the addons linker so absolutely nothing in the Community folder. I don't know what to do. Any help?? Thanks. February 27, 20233 yr are you on the SU12 beta? Do you use MS Store or Steam version? Did you update all Windows apps through MS Store and Windows through settings (there were some xbox app updates just today)? some more details may help others to help you Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 27, 20233 yr Author In Steam I selected Verify integrity of files and it said 165 files failed integrity check and would be re-acquired. I don't have any disk problems that I know of. I use all NVMN and SSD disks. What could have caused this type of problem? Everything is updated as far as I know. As said, everything was working perfectly last night when I shut it down. February 27, 20233 yr Author Now on a second pass Steam says all files pass the integrity check. But the sim will not even visibly start on the screen. I press PLAY in steam to start the sim, I hear my PC cycle up, and before anything even appears on the screen, Steam changes to PLAY again as if I never started it. February 27, 20233 yr Author I did not update from a few hours ago. I am just trying to bring the sim up for the first time today. I can't do any updates since it won't even start. I never do anything with the Microsoft store. I am running the Steam version. However, when I tried to start it the first time I did see a message in Steam saying it had updated something. February 27, 20233 yr Author I looked in the Windows Application error log using Event Viewer and it shows that the app is causing an exception code 5, which seems to indicate some type of invalid memory access. But I have not idea what to do to address this. Can someone please help me? The Verify Integrity option on Steam deletes all MSFS files, so it seems you'll need to re-install the whole sim Cheers, Ed MSFS2020 Steam // Rig: Corsair Graphite 760T Full Tower - ASUS MBoard Maximus XII Hero Z490 - CPU Intel i9-10900K - 64GB RAM - MSI RTX2080 Super 8GB - [1xNVMe M.2 1TB + 1xNVMe M.2 2TB (Samsung)] + [1xSSD 1TB + 1xSSD 2TB (Crucial)] + [1xSSD 1TB (Samsung)] + 1 HDD Seagate 2TB + 1 HDD Seagate External 4TB - Monitor LG 29UC97C UWHD Curved - PSU Corsair RM1000x // Thrustmaster FCS & MS XBOX Controllers

All the folders and content seem to still be there. I don't have any idea how to completely reinstall the Steam version of the sim again. Would I lose all of my controller settings? That would be a disaster. As reinstall may be necessary, can someone point me to the correct procedure for doing that? UPDATE: Well I found an old thread where someone indicated that reinstalling their GPU driver fixed this very problem. I wasn't hopeful but I did reinstall my GPU driver and lo and behold the sim came up. However, as was stated to me, I was then told by the sim that I had to reinstall 165GB of data files. So I guess the integrity check did in fact delete files. I am hoping that my controller settings are saved in the cloud and won't have to be reconfigured as that would take me forever. February 28, 20233 yr check with task manager (control, alt, delete) and see if the sim is still in memory (still running). If it is it will not start again. (kill the process).
