Helicopter throttle/collective axis

Featured Replies

I found several messages at the official MS site about the sim treating all throttle AXES inputs as collective inputs; moving the collective up/down and not moving/rotating the throttle on the collective.  All of the threads eventually end with no suggested fix or resolution.

I have the problem with all my sim controls (Thrustmaster Airbus throttle quadrant  and addon and Joystick, CH Yoke, Saitek ST290Pro joystick acting that way in all three helicopter's I fly: Cabri G2, MD500, Bell 406.

The USB game setup app and various other USB control monitors all show the appropriate axis being actuated as I move them on the controller.  All the controllers work fine with all the other fixed wing aircraft.

I have tried every throttle control (including helicopter) I can find in the control  profiles and in every case using an AXIS for throttle input moves the collective.

Assigning buttons to the helicopter throttle increase/decrease makes the helicopter throttle move as I wish without moving the collective.

But - WHY can't an axis input control the helicopter throttle?

I believe it's a known issue that they plan to address in a future update.

The other day, I saw something in the SU12 beta release notes, about helicopter throttle.  So I'd say something is being done on that front.

If it  can help this is the way I do it. I fly the piston Cabri with my Warthog throttle  :

- the rightmost  lever is bound to the "Collective Axis" function (reverse axis unchecked)

 - the leftmost lever is bound to the "Set Helicopter Throttle Axis" function (reverse axis checked)

It works OK. When the governor is off, the throttle lever changes the rotor RPM.
