Man Fined for Drone Flight.

Featured Replies

All I gotta say about this is the fine should have more and his sentence shouldn't have been suspended and his drone should have been confiscated.  He got off too easy.

Too many people get their hands on a drone and think the entire sky belongs to them.  When they violate airspace jail time should be mandatory.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Flying a Drone at an Airshow.

As far as I can see, it wasn't really an airshow. It was just the one aircraft. When I look at the 2022 Buxton Carnival programme, the Hurricane doesn't seem at all relevant.

The drone operator deserved his punishment but I can't see why such a rare aircraft should have been involved in this event in the first place..

Where I used to live in the UK, a few years back, a WW2 veteran received a Spitfire flypast at his funeral.

There's probably more Spitfires around than Huricanes, I would think.

Maybe the owner or the pilot just wanted to fly it and found an occasion to do so.

Well I guess there's not much point restoring a Hurricane to flying status, and then just leaving it in the hangar. The point is to fly them. 👍

50 spitfires are still around, in flying condition, plus 20 under restoration. 16 Hurricanes are in flying condition.

Seems there are loads of P51D Mustangs around. Still flying. Not far off 200.

The owners are The Battle of Britian Memorial Flight, not the pilot only two still flying that is funded by public donations and sponsors, the flight will have been cleared by the CAA not a joy ride.

Oooh I like that! I dont think the fines and prison sentence was enough either. Taking away an extra $400 drone surely would make it where he would never buy another one again because you know..who has that kind of money laying around. However, the presence it sets is awesome. We can start "confiscate" peoples cars who are reckless driving as just a start. Forget fines and jail time, lets just also "confiscate" everything as well!

It's done all the time.  Assets, even houses, are sometimes confiscated or 'seized' from individuals convicted of crimes.  It's common to seize assets including automobiles and even real property from drug dealers.  But there are other crimes where seizures and forfeitures are legal.

Such property is sold at auction by the confiscating authority.
