RTX 4090 no G-Sync Monitor - Solution

Featured Replies

After much deliberation, I decided to get a 4090 - Luckily at MSRP! Unfortunately, my wonderful and beautiful G-Sync monitor broke. So I'm back to my regular 60Hz monitor without HDR and all the fancy stuff.

I've been really looking forward to trying out the Frame Generation, even though I got this card primarily for VR, pancake is where it all started, so back to pancake we shall return. At first, looking through many forums, there was no real guide on how to set this up properly without micro stuttering and screen tearing....then I found this Reddit post...and hooooolllyyyy $hitballs, it's incredible.

Here's the gist of the post:

that's not in VR though? 60fps wit FG = ON is 30 fps without FG, that wouldn't be unusual?

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

These settings are not for VR, they're for 2D mode. I guess, technically the framerate is 30, but it doesn't feel or look like it at all. It feels and looks like 60 FPS...it's so good that I brought out the Tobii again. Genuinely impressed.

If I'm going to fly in VR, then I just revert my settings back to normal. VR is great, but can be fatiguing sometimes.

true. we need lighter headsets, like sunglasses or AR style goggles formfactor. I fly in VR typically under 1 hour at a time.

If you don't mind me asking, on a 4090 when I turn on DLSS I get blurry readings from ND and PFD on the A310 and B737. Do you notice any of these on your setup?

I'm using TAA, so I don't notice any blurring. There is quite a bit of headroom with the 4090, and the GPU is only running at around 30-60%, although I am only running 1440p, not sure about 4K.

Thank you. I was under the impression that DLSS is on from reading DLSS Quality on in game settings. On my PC if I have that issue with DLSS. I'll try tomorrow with the RTSS, right now I'm also on TAA for that exact reason.
Much appreciated.

Oh i see, yeah these settings are for The Witcher 3. The only settings I carried over were for the Nvidia Control Panel and Riva Tuner.

Thank you so much!
If by any chance you are using FSUIPC I also noticed this clip.

Guess I’m confused also.  Since your post started off so specific. Can you post exactly all the steps you did to get your results?

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Works perfect for me. But only needed for MSFS since it still seems that MSFS own Vsync is not working properly.

Thanks to the OP for sharing!

I'm afraid that each PC will react differently to any settings. IMHO is just to try different settings. What I can say from my observations on 3 PCs, each will show different results in different settings. I used as was suggested with Scanline Sunc at -140, Frametime graph on, and played around with FPS limit up to the point where I get a solid line (no ups/downs or spikes as to call it) resulting in no stutters, perfect smooth experience. To be honest you probably might spend a good amount of time to find that sweet spot. In my case, I stay away from DLSS with DX12. Apparently, this game is still not properly optimized, yet.
