March 28, 20233 yr Hi All, I have a brand new install of P3D v5.3 due to a recent upgrade I am running a Nvidia RTX3060 with Game Ready Driver version 531.41 and I'm facing what I can describe as screen tearing/lagging/stuttering when moving around the flight deck. This is happens in all sorts of aircraft Pieper Cub / PMDG 737 you name it. Below are my settings: In addition, I have set the following inside Nvidia settings: Max Frame Rate: 35 OpenGL Rendering GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Vertical Sync: Adaptive This is the monitor that I'm using as my only display: 27" CF390 Full HD Curved Monitor P3Dv5.3 is running as administrator and I have disabled full screen optimisations in Windows 11 for the application. The Sim is smooth as butter otherwise, just whenever I pan around the flight deck it seems like something is lagging behind. This issue seems to happen only in the flight deck.... Please help me. I'm really looking forward to CTP and want to get everything going/tested before then :) Many Thanks, Edited March 28, 20233 yr by Mikber18
March 28, 20233 yr Moderator I’m no expert but your monitor supports AMD Freesync and you have an Nvidia graphics card. That means you cannot take advantage of Freesync I assume. Your choice of 35 fps is curious. Have you tried 30 with 1/2 setting in NCP? Ray (Cheshire, England). System: P3D v5.3HF2, Intel i9-13900K, MSI 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G, Crucial T700 4Tb M.2 SSD, Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero, 32Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000Mhz RAM, Win 11 Pro 64-bit, BenQ PD3200U 32” UHD monitor, Fulcrum One yoke, Fulcrum Throttle Quadrant. March 28, 20233 yr 8xSSAA seem to be a tad high, also everyone recommend to disable FXAA. NVIDIA settings: Try to disable vsync - i have less tearing with vsync off Latency on? High performance power profile enabled? Edited March 28, 20233 yr by Beardyman Artur

He must simply check these things: - In the monitor, AMD Freesync must be enabled. - In NCP, G-Sync must be enabled for both fullscreen and windowed applications. - Also, in the P3D profile settings in NCP, Monitor Technology must be set to G-Sync Compatible - And finally, VRR must be checked in P3D settings. This is how I do with my rig. I leave any other settings in NCP as Default; except for Power Management (set it to Prefer max performance). It's not the same as G-Sync, I guess. 3 hours ago, Ray Proudfoot said: Your choice of 35 fps is curious In my case, I can't choose 30 FPS because my 144-Hz monitor does not like it; it feels too laggy. However, anything over 32 FPS in P3D feels butter-smooth. In MSFS, I need at least 36 FPS for the same results. In my 60-Hz laptop display, 30 Hz feels a lot smoother than in my desktop. Maybe @Mikber18's situation is similar? Hi @Luis Hernandez - thank you for your help. I've made a few changes as you've suggested: free sync on the monitor - enabled G-Sync must be enabled for both fullscreen and windowed applications - I don't seem to get that option? Also, in the P3D profile settings in NCP, Monitor Technology must be set to G-Sync Compatible - not an option I'm able to see? VRR Variable refresh rate - enabled (took me a while, but found it) Thanks for your help
March 28, 20233 yr Author I've just applied all the changes - the results are: A dramatic improvement versus what was there before. I am however noticing that now I seem to get 1 straight line across the screen when panning around. The line is always horizontal and its just the one. What could be causing this and what could I do to eliminate it? Can I please thank you for all your help so far! You've been fantastic!
March 28, 20233 yr How are you physically connecting your monitor to your GPU? HDMI or DisplayPort? AFAIK, you need DisplayPort for G-Sync Compatible to work. Its 100% a HDMI Cable. I don't believe I own a DisplayPort cable.... From what you are saying DisplayPort is the one to go for? Edit: I just bought a DisplayPort to HDMI cable (my Samsung Monitor only supports HDMI or VGA).... Are there any other settings that I should be considering..... what about the image and texture quality tab that I posted a picture of in my first post? Do those need a tweak? Edited March 28, 20233 yr by Mikber18
March 29, 20233 yr Sadly you might be out of luck: while Freesync works with AMD cards and HDMI, G-Sync Compatible requires a DP cable at both ends. You may turn Freesync back off, and also same for VRR. They won't work in your computer. 4 hours ago, Mikber18 said: what about the image and texture quality tab that I posted a picture of in my first post? Do those need a tweak? Yes. Some of your settings are overkill: - FXAA: set it off - AA: 8xSSAA is too much, even for your 3060. Reduce it a bit, to 4xSSAA. - Anisotropic filtering: 16x! 8x is too little. - Wide-view aspect ratio. Check it, your screen is wide. Now, about the tearing you mention, for this, there are several methods: 1) If your monitor allows it, set your refresh rate to 30 Hz in NCP, and then, in P3D, set the following: - VSync: On - Triple Buffer: On - Frame rate: Unlimited (as you have in your screenshot) 2) If it doesn't (i.e., you can't change from 60 Hz), you may try using RTSS Scanline X/2, or doing as Ray says (in NCP, set max frame rate to 30, and Vsync to 1/2 refresh rate). For either, you need to set VSync and TB in P3D to Off, and framerate to Unlimited. Hope this helps. March 29, 20233 yr I had frame rate set to 30 and vsync with half refresh rate but still had horizontal line across my monitor. Also tried RTSS - with different settings horizontal line was placed in different part of my monitor, but couldn't get rid of that. Finally i had to learn live with it... Artur

I assume that my next step would be upgrading to a more modern (g-sync compatible?) monitor? Many Thanks

However, as you may see both here and in MSFS forums, some people still have 60-Hz fixed-refresh-rate monitors, with no problem at all. I wouldn't make this a priority. Let us know how did P3D work with the new settings. 6 hours ago, Beardyman said: I had frame rate set to 30 and vsync with half refresh rate but still had horizontal line across my monitor. See this post: With the OP's monitor, the framerate would be 30 or 60. These instructions are for MSFS, but I've applied them to P3D successfully. Don't bother yet with Process Lasso, I don't use it. March 29, 20233 yr @Mikber18 At what refresh rate do you run your screen? Also, you should try to change the Vsync settings in the Nvidia Control Panel to "Use the 3D Application setting", since you have Vsync already activated in P3D. You don't need to upgrade to a new monitor or use a different cable to achieve tearing-free panning. I am sure it's all down to your settings.
March 29, 20233 yr Author I’ve just bought a new monitor with nvidia sync or whatever the term is. I will report back. I’m hoping it will fix all the issues….
