SpaceX is planning to launch its giant Starship rocket as early as Monday, according to a flight notice.The 120-metre tall rocket is the centrepiece of Elon Musk’s plans to colonise Mars, with deals already in place with Nasa to use it to shuttle astronauts to the Moon. Before it can transport any crew or cargo, the biggest rocket ever built must first complete an orbital flight test that will see it lift off from SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Texas, before splashing down off the coast of Hawaii.

The FAA are faffing around of course, and have not yet made a license determination for Spaceship, so that could mess it up. But the planning notice is in for 10th 11th and 12th.

Should be very spectacular. I'm envious.

There's some confusion at the moment, because the local authorities seem to be suggesting these are not flight tests taking place. However, FAA information suggests this is the orbital test, and the media certainly seem to think so.

Lets hope it is the orbital test and lets hope the FAA orbital launch license is issued.

Looks like it's Monday for wet dress rehersal. Then following week for orbital flight test.

I really hope that this works first time. I can't wait to see those Raptors in action!

😲👍 Great news, I had visions of the FAA dragging their feet.

A big bang could well be coming. As with the previous tests, a rapid unscheduled disassembly could well be on the cards.

50/50 I reckon. But if it does go kaboom, and if its an airburst,  like the Russian N1, we can expect debris propelled a very long way. Shattered windows and debris propelled 10 kilometers, I recall.

Scheduled for Monday, I presume?
