I hope your windows 8 box is not connected to the internet as that operating system is riddled with vulnerabilities; Microsoft stopped patching Windows 8 more than 7 years ago.

You can find the answer to your question here:  https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/running-ms-flight-simulator-2004-on-windows-10-pc/c51eb23d-015d-480d-8772-b8fc23f0fe3b

good luck!

No problems at all, running FS2004 on Windows 10 & Windows 11.

To INSTALL FS2004 to your new Windows 10 or 11 PC

1. Install into C:\ NOT into it's default C:\Program Files

2. Install the 9.1 updatel

3. Install the 9.1 nocd patch

4. Right-click the FS9.exe, select Properties

5. Select Compatibility mode, & select XP

6. At bottom, then select 'Run as Administrator'

7. Double click the desktop icon

Yes, it does. Also in Win 11.

However, do not run in fullscreen mode; it has several issues. Keep it to windowed mode.

You mean download a windower

No! Windows Mode is Alt-Enter (Alt key & Enter key at the same time)

Never had a problem with full screen on W10. Alt-TAB in and out no problem either, except when I go back to full screen I get a glowing border and then I hit Alt 2X and it's fine.

That will be in 'My Documents' folder.

So it is not in fs9 folder

Yes, it should be there.

If I remember correctly, the key assignments are in fs9.cfg (at or near the bottom of the listing)

I use a search engine called 'Everything' from www.voidtools.com

This is a very quick desktop search engine that finds whatever you are looking for, as you type.

I wondered about Windows 10 64 bit. I don't know what the difference is, so i have always used 32 bit for FS9.
