Aliasing to another AI airplane

Featured Replies

I am getting tired of seeing some of my multiplayer buddies who fly in a P38, show up as an airliner when we fly together.

Short of me purchasing the P38, is there any way to alias this plane to some default aircraft, like a Baron?

Update... Today I tried a brute force method.. which worked..  But there has to be a more elegant way.. 😉

I copied the default King Air and gave it the name(s) and aircraft.cfg file of the P38.

With this "P38" active in my sim, my fellow P38 buddies no longer show up as airliners, but as either a King Air (if I am myself flying the "P38") or as a Baron if I fly another airplane.  Note: if one of the P38s is in a custom livery which I do not have, it again shows up as an airliner.  This can be fixed by adding the custom livery name to the aircraft.cfg file.

I anyone can come up with a less cumbersome solution, I am all ears.. 🙂

Sounds to me like a great opportunity for an addon developer.

Or even the original developer.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Yeah in xplane they have these csl models where the dev can just export a low poly version of their own plane for use in multiplayer.  It's pretty cool actually.

Sounds ideal.  Hopefully Asobo will have a look at that and put it on their list as they push multiplayer so much.

I have submitted a Zendesk ticket.. lets see if it ever makes it into an SU release.

And.. the initial response is not very promising..

And then, they changed their mind:

Quote: "Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We just want to confirm that this issue has been tracked in our internal bug tracker. Since this issue will need to be addressed in a patch, we are going to close this report."
