How Users Come and Go

Featured Replies

As I was cruising the topics today, I was pondering about a user that used to post frequently on a variety of AVSim topics. In fact we communicated by email too. Then you realize it has likely been several months since reading a post by that user. Then, if you think really hard, there are many users who have done their time here. Apart from being banned, there are many reasons why we post often and then suddenly silence … it’s called the reality of life events! I’m sure we can all think of similar scenarios.

One likely scenario: boredom. Taking off and landing at least 100 times, using at least 10 different aircraft and visiting 100 different interesting places reminds me of a banking joke: what is the difference between banking and sex?  Answer: if you keep putting money in and out many times, after awhile you'll lose interest. Lol.

@Doering  anyone in particular you are wondering about?  PM me if you don't want to say on the forums.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Thanks Charlie! Pretty sure the one user I am thinking about was not banned, most likely burned out if not a personal or family matter. Best to leave the privacy the way it is. Blue skies!

I'm a regular visitor and contributor.  One reason is something to do.  Having been retired for over 30 years now I need a break from watching television and reading and flight simming.  Besides, I have friends here I like to converse with and discuss subjects with and exchange ideas with.

As you continue aging and your friends and kin die off and you have no workplace to go to and you find yourself more and more alone Hangar Chat and the e-mail friends I have help combat the loneliness.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I share your 'pain'?  As we grow old we become 'strangers in a strange land'.  People we know disappear into the shadows and love ones become just memories. New ones and a new generation replace them. The things we love get used up and get replaced by the new that have no sentimental value.  Oldies and goodies get replaced by new technology.

AI and the metaverse anyone?

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

As the weather improves in spring my attentions turn more towards launching my fleet of BMW motorcycles.

Once Winter starts closing in the bikes will be put away and I’ll fire up the flight sim once again, only to find the state of the art computer I left in spring is now sadly out of date and has become  a previous generation model.
