That other pic had photogrammetry activated, which doesn't really make it comparable to the screenshot in XP. Better make the comparison with normal autogen instead.

I don't think it's the photogrammetry. X-Plane 12 is pushing a lot more objects a lot farther:

A lot more objects (for a give area -- Density) I'm not sure.

A lot farther, yes, that's a fact. The other sim has quite a limited display distance for scenery and autogen objects indeed.

get good performance with all other games expect for x-plane.

LR are currently working on VRAM improvements which they say is required to improve other aspects of the sim.  In the meantime I load up my silky smooth XP12 and relly enjoy it.  Any improvement in performance are just icing on a delicious cake.

even by their "official" statements they consider performance updates to be "improvements" or "tuning", when in fact the overall performance is absymal

Abysmal in what way?  I get very silky smooth performance in XP12.  There again, I'm not in love with FPS numbers, just smoothness.

yet most folks are not complainging anymore so they have good AA like in MSFS

What AA in MSFS are you refering to?  When I use MSFS with TAA I see constant ghost images behind moving object, absolutely horrid.

I have a 7950x3D on a X670E Gigabyte Master M/B, with 64GB ddr5 60000mhz Ram, on a 990 pro NVME and I cannot run one 75" monitor without stutters/flickers on XP12!!! Yet on 2020, I can run THREE 75" screens and they run like butter and that is without a 3D flight deck on both setups!

I get very smooth performance in XP12 and have done so for a while.  Must be hardware/plugin/setting issue.

Good grief, the lighting in the left image is horrid!

I don't think these images can be used to estimate the lighting.

You might get a little ghosting after you crashed next to a busy road and all that's left to do is watch the traffic instead of your cockpit, yes. However that's pretty much the only situation where ghosting really happens. The shimmering in XP however, happens everywhere. It gets a bit better when tweaking the config file to force the FXAA with all antialiasing modes, yes, but that's it..

EDIT: ah no sorry, you will also definitely see ghosting in the other sim when flying fast over trees and looking at your own shadow. That is, 0,0000000000001% of your flight time or something like that.

I don't see any ghosting behind other aircraft?

I meant the left image lighting is horrid.  Flat, washed out, little contrast - yuck!

That's not the lighting, but the ground texture. If we want to comment on graphic engines of our current sims, limitations and strong points, better do it properly.

Left keeps getting changed to right for some reason!

Nothing to do with ground texture, the lighting is awful.

That's just me, to show you in a funny way that your comment does in fact fit to both pictures every time 🙂
