Release candidate – 12.05r1

This is the first release candidate for 12.05. Whilst we gather feedback – this version will only be available under public beta.

Using the X-Plane Betas

XPD-14018 – A330 flap relief retracts slats at same time.

XPD-14009 – A330 hits overspeed warning at 215 knots clean.

XPD-14005 – GFC-700 ESP can active on “no AP” aircraft.

XPD-13968 – A330 autothrottle should disengage when moving thrust levers to idle.

XPD-14044 – CEF loading does not understand unicode on windows.

XPD-13987 – A330 bleed air adjustments needed/ WING A. ICE SYS FAULT problem.

XPD-13969 – A330 (too) late tuning of correct ILS for approach.

XPD-14042 – Bug report “sim crash around Lisbon (Portugal)”.

XPD-14023 – Bug report “Front wheel has chocks on Lancair since last update”.

XPD-14011 – A330 direct-to-radial-in function in FMS reversed inbound course.

XPD-13988 – A330 automatic ND declutter function messes up sometimes (suppresses routing).

XPD-13965 – Aircraft on NAV mode following a route direct on the GPS will veer off course after ca. 250NM.

XPD-13994 – G530 using “Save Flight Plan” is only saving first three lines.

very nice.

Well, apparently those with M1 processors will be able to fly from / to Lisbon and surrounding area airfileds 🙂

This is a good one to get out of the way, because I very much suspect the next betas will break a lot of things before its good for daily driving as they tackle the harder problems.

12.05r1 has been rock solid for me, finally worth keeping as a separate install going forward so I always have a sim in "perfect working order" to enjoy if/when I get tired of kicking the tires of the new shiney.

So if there is a "simple" issue left to fix, especially one you dont have an XPD for, now is very much the time to make sure they know about it, or else its likely going to be a while before the beta sim is back in as good a condition as now.

Or maybe everything goes perfect from here on in and new shiney drops perfect day one.... miracles do happen I'm told.

I checked the release notes for you and I can confirm I don't see an entry for 'Frankenclouds'.  In fact I have never seen an official reference to 'Frankenclouds'.    Perhaps if you referred to the issue as 'dark clouds', you may receive a more sympathetic respone?

Nor have they looked at networking, something that has been broken since XP10!!! Looks like their new airbus will be getting most of the attention now.

The pace of the updates is slow, and the contents of the updates are underwhelming.

That one took them a while.

They should've tackled those problems before releasing 12.00.

Why and how?

I do not see how people can report issues if they dont have the sim to try, test and report issues...

IMHO, if we waited until every issue was 'tackled' before releasing 12.00, we wouldn't have a sim to use for another couple of years. I think its great we have such a good flight sim to use as it develops.

For ten years I was the sole developer for my companies HR software, including internet and intranet sites.  Many bugs will only surface once users get their hands on the software.  The company I worked for had 250 employees, so my bug finding task was relativly easy because everybody used the same laptops/PCs.  LR have a far harder task with all the different combinations of hardware in use.

You should fly XP12 and enjoy what you have and with each update you can get excited with the new stuff!  Unfortunately, you seem to live in a 'half glass empty' world, so will probably never be happy.

I can't believe it or am I dreaming: where are the black horror Frankenclouds gone? no matter how hard I tried using the new beta 1205r1: no Frankenclouds yet. what happened to them? I saw nothing regarding fixing these in the release notes. if they are really gone, this could be the beginning of a new long lasting friendship: atmospheric lighting, dusk and dawn, has never looked better in any other sim for me. still some graphic quirks and a few stupid repetitive rain puddles remain, but if that's all ...
