May 6, 20233 yr The A220-500 is to replace the A320 eventually. Interesting article! https://www.aviacionline.com/2023/05/the-airbus-a220-500-is-coming-a320-replacement-boeing-737-max-rival/ Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.
May 6, 20233 yr Boeing could have been the one doing this, but were instead shortsighted and tried to kill the CSeries.

May 7, 20233 yr Yep. I used to be fan of Boeing, but sadly no longer. The company has become stagnant and focused solely on profit. I just read recently that in 2022 they decided to postpone development of the new middle-market airplane for a couple of years. Meanwhile Airbus is moving full steam ahead working on the A220-500, and they have their super-duper A321XLR which is replacing the Boeing 757s. Maybe Boeing can redeem themselves eventually, but I have no faith in the incompetent and greedy executives of that company. May 8, 20233 yr Kinda wonder how it would place A321, I don't think CS100 could be stretch to that extend, or it'll be the next MAX10. Or maybe after CS covers 100~180 seat, airbus could finally make a clean sheet 200~250 direct 757 replacement. a pipe dream for me... Don't forget Boeing still have SUGAR in their hand, if it could delivery the promised fuel saving.

Bombardier already had plans for the CS500 model to follow the CS100 and CS300 before Airbus bought the program. The potential for the CS500 to be built was a big part of why Boeing essentially tried to kill the program.
