Learn the ATR

Featured Replies

Hi all , i would like to learn the ATR, but my set up is completely geared for Airbus and i don't want to loose my TCA/Warthog setting in MSFS and Fsuipc . When setting up the throttles etc do i just set a new profile in control settings ?, aim terrified lol it took me ages to set up all my controls

ROG Crossair Hero X670e , 9900X, TUF 4090 , X4 NVME's. OS  2TB 980 Pro , MSFS  2TB WD Black , Kington Fury 64GB ram ( 6000) Corsair RM1000 PSU, Artic Freezer iii 360 AIO  . Phanteks P600s Case ,TCL QM8B 50" 120 Hz  TV,second 24 inch screen for charts you tube etc, and 11" touch screen for the EFB. Warthog Stick and TCA Captains throttle ( full pack)  Velocity 1 Rudder Pedals , extreme3D for the Tiller,Streamdeck XL x2 / Streamdeck +/Streamdeck mini because i like pressing buttons

Your best bet would be to CLONE/DUPLICATE your existing profile - then use that as a starting point.

Also - do a search for TCA throttle setup for the ATR. The reversers axis can be tricky. I have a Logitech/Saitek X56, so can't help you directly 😞

I suggest using AAO. You can setup a profile for every aircraft and it gets automatically loaded. It also has many options which FSUIPC doesn‘t have (short clicks/presses, long clicks/presses etc.)

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I recommend spad.next. I have individual profiles for each airplane.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I wasn't going to complicate things by throwing AxisAndOhs into the mix but - yes - definitely worth considering. I use it myself and no longer use FSUIPC (which I've used happily for many years).

Concur with Adam on this. Now, I don't use SPAD.next or Axis and Oh's, so I can't recommend those apps or not, but within MSFS I have controls settings for different types of aircraft. I create base profile for a twin engine aircraft, and then I CLONE/DUPLICATE from that and make a profile for my Fenix A320, my PMDG 737's and then also for various other types of aircraft. Doing it this way means you will have to manually switch your control profiles within MSFS depending on which aircraft you are going to fly. From what I understand of those other control applications like SPAD.next, FSUIPC and Axis and Oh's is that your profiles are potentially switched automatically based on the aircraft you are flying, but I cannot confirm that.

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN  Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11

That's correct. Also keep in mind most 3rd party aircraft INCLUDING the ATR do not work with MSFS default controls or have at least many controls not available in MSFS (e.g. switching CLB mode in the ATR). So you'll quickly approach the limit for what's doable within MSFS.
