May 22, 20233 yr Hey guys, I have rolling cache enabled at 100gb as my internet in my area is getting updated but at 50mbps atm which is word not allowed. Do I need to delete it delete it every so often? for performance. Or leave it be ? As I mainly fly on the east coast of Australia Sydney, Brisbane ,Melbourne , Canberra etc etc thanks mike
May 22, 20233 yr the idea of a cache is not to delete it for performance. only reason some (I never used the cache) recommend to delete the cache only after an update to the MSFS title through MS Store, Steam or MSFS launcher Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

May 22, 20233 yr I have only once deleted my rolling cache since the game launched. I started experiencing severe stutters in specific regions (pausing for half a second every 3-4 seconds). After a reboot didn't help, and seeing that there were no issues in other regions, I cleared the rolling cache. Immediately, and without restarting the sim, those stutters stopped and never came back. Unless you have problems like above, I'd leave it as-is. I assume that if the imagery etc from the server gets updated, the locally stored/cached version will update itself anyway.
May 22, 20233 yr I've never used the cache, My download speed tested is 100mb/sec (in reality - 13mb/sec). Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's
May 22, 20233 yr Yeah eight to one ratio , 100, 13.... bits vs. bytes With that much speed no cache is desirable nor needed in MSFS on a PC, in my opinion. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
May 22, 20233 yr On an Xbox, cache is optionally set aside when installing MSFS, rather than using the settings inside MSFS. Maybe it's needed on an Xbox. On a PC, with say 30 mbps speed or higher, I think cache only hinders, and causes issues. Best left off in settings, in my experience. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Are you sure the second figure is not MB/s ? 8.0 Mb/s = 1.0 MB/s Hence: 100 Mb/s = 12.5 MB/s (also, just to be clear milli-bits per second or "mb/s" is not a thing either, as it would take a fortnight to transfer one bit of information at that speed) Edited May 22, 20233 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

May 23, 20233 yr Well, whatever which way with bits or bytes, I've never used the cache, but, I do have pre-cache set on ultra. Now there is another discussion.
