flightsim.to ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been away from the Flight Simulator scene for a few years, and restarted only recently.
I noticed that a lot of links to (freeware) addons now point to: 'flightsim.to'

Have they 'taken over'?
In the past I downloaded most (if not all) files here from AVSIM Library.
Just curious

Yes. Flightsim.to is the de facto freeware website for MSFS now. They sprang up very quickly when MSFS came out, and the community by in large, likes flightsim.to (having said that, there was a controversy not long ago with flightsim.to, but I'm not going to get into it, you can search for the threads on it).

Yep it's the place where most files are hosted....and there are a multitude of them!

At first, I assumed that Avsim would step up to the plate in their traditional role, but considering the unchanging look/feel/functionality of the library, it seemed apparent fairly quickly that either the knowhow or the resources, or maybe just simply the will, was no longer there to maintain and modernize the status quo.

So..... Flightsim.to, it is!

Flightsim.to is also making a play for the X-plane market, but it remains to be seen how that will go.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I saw Avsims front page. I literally only come on here for the forums now and I'm fine with that. Flightsim.to is too easy to use and has so much content, it makes it a pretty easy decision.

The guy that ran the front page and kept it up to date has been gone for several years...in more than just one way!

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

It certainly wasn't a dig at the actual front page. I was just saying how most of the time I come to Avsim, it's for the forums and thus, with the wisdom of bookmarks, not necessary to visit the front page.
