June 19, 20232 yr I have an overall very good performance, in the departure airport, climbing and cruising but when descending to the destination airport usually between 10.000 and 5.000 feet the sim freezes for a couple of seconds. After that it recovers back. I've tried several tests to track this problem, new drivers, empty community folder, low settings but nothing that I've done has solve it. I'm running an 5800X3D, RTX3080, 64GB RAM PC. Do you have any ideas to share for me to track down what's going on? Thank you!

You might give a one-month trial to VPN software such as NordVPN. A lot of ISPs throttle specific data-hungry programs (like MSFS). So your overall internet speed may test very well because the testing software itself is not throttled. But specific programs, such as MSFS, may encounter throttling at certain times of the day or week. The VPN prevents the ISP from knowing what program you're using, and so the program data stream is not throttled. Is this your problem? Probably not. But such a solution worked well for me when I suffered the same problem as you a few months back. June 19, 20232 yr Author Thank you David! I will try that. The vpn server to connect to should be the one from my country or it is not relevant?

This could also be location dependent... sometimes a new airport brings with it scenery detail and traffic. This all needs to be loaded.. Try tuning off AI traffic as a test and see if that improves things. Bert

Trial and error is the way to proceed. Generally it takes a little longer to transfer data from a "foreign" server. But if your local server is throttled and the "foreign" server is not, you might still be better off using a far-away server. Again, this is probably not your problem. But if all other potential solutions fail you, it's worth a try. You'll soon know if the VPN works for your purpose. If it doesn't, you can probably cancel and not even have to pay for one month. June 19, 20232 yr Not really, and the ISP doesn't have to be actually throttling you for there to be a difference between your connection and the VPN. ISPs use different pathways and routing servers to pass traffic, and it can be that the VPN uses a different one, so that can sometimes be the difference. But VPN's come with their own problems as well, and your bandwidth is limited to what the VPN allows rather than your ISP's provided bandwidth. I'd also be hesitant to rush to the determination that this is network related. It could be, but there's a ton of other things that can cause this as well. it's been an issue in most of the flight sims over the years, even the offline ones.
