X Plane to MSFS2020 Bridge Released

It took me an age to get something reasonable working for

3 years ago or so, and windows testing was so much of a disaster that even with a ton of extra validation layers that should "just work" I'm still not 100% satisfied with the result.

XR is the future here, green screen the windows, then get all the benefits of a home cockpit with all the rush and panic of true speed and depth perception, with none of the inescapable technical problems.

Hi Turbomax,

"why use xplane in the first place when you prefer MSFS scenery and graphics?"

I prefer the precision of Xplane 12 along with the Zibo Mod airliner. I've flown both PMDG and the Zibo Mod and PMDG (by no fault of their own due to platform limitations) just doesn't come close to what a 737ng feels like!!! This is based on my hands on (VERY early in the morning!!!) sim time inside a multimillion dollar simulator.

thanks Mike.

could you please elaborate some more what exactly you mean by "PMDG... just doesn't come close to what a 737ng feels like"?

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Hi Turbomax,

"thanks Mike. could you please elaborate some more what exactly you mean by "PMDG... just doesn't come close to what a 737ng feels like"?"

Best way to describe it would be yoke rudder pedal movement within my flight deck in X-Plane 12 and how the Zibo mod aircraft responds to those inputs and how closely they mimic the feel and response of the multimillion dollar sim. I have not been able to get that feel in MS2020 in trying not only the PMDG airliner but also Prosim offering as well.

Note: I've spent over a week trying MS2020's control settings and sensitivity to try and dial them in, but have had no luck at all, I believe it's out of the end users control at this point.

So that's decades of 737 modeling experience, plus teams of university engineering grads and type-rated pilots (PMDG) compared to a single person tweaking XP for the past 4-5 years based on type-rated pilot suggestions (Zibo), back to back in a very realistic stationary cockpit.

PMDG and Prosim are obviously full of talent. Highly unlikely that misses in dynamic behavior are their fault.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

Hi,

No doubt in my mind it's the limitations of MS2020 and not that of the third party developer!

Hi Mike,

Just wondering whether you had much progress with this XPL/MFS ‘bridge’ setup. I’d like to try it for myself, but see that the download link is no longer active.

Thanks.

I think your observation confirms what we already knew. It’s just what it is and shows XP’s strength. The pilot « A330Driver » who has been a captain on the B737 and also test-pilot of the PMDG (and using almost only MSFS to stream) had to admit it as well after having compared both: « The point where zibo clearly wins are flight dynamics ». This is same as almost every airliner-pilot said when comparing similar aircrafts (airliners) in both sims. Yet, you will still find people who will completely deny that. Mostly people who haven’t even flown a small GA in real. They know better than professional pilots 😀

That’s exactly what BB711 also said. The sim is limited and unfortunately devs have almost zero chances to tweak it to obtain a flightmodel as good as in XP. Or only if they use an external flightmodel. So yes I do also think that it’s not the dev’s fault. I think they are as capable as XP’s devs basically.

Since airport elevation issues as well as positioning (between both sims) are a bit much to try and correct, I've been working with Mr. Odoum on Device Interface Manager that will allow me to setup my flight deck with 2020.

Thanks. I can imagine there being many nuances in getting suitable results. I suspect with enough troubleshooting/work etc, it can be achieved, (someone's doing something similar with the PSX 744 standalone sim being linked to MFS for visuals -- https://aerowinx.com/board/index.php/topic,7196.0.html) but it's understandable that you've chosen a different path.
