Landing Dad's Citation

Recommended Posts

It’s not even real… she has her hands on the yoke and is just holding on. Incredible what rubbish people create for “views”.

If Dad is a qualified instructor it should be.

Not when you need a child seat to even look over the instrument panel. And I suspect she's not doing any flying at all.

Well she clearly cannot reach the pedals.

But landing a plane is not rocket science it is a physical skill, you just need good hand eye co-ordination (the sort of kid that can ride a bike or skate board without trying for example would ace it) many people can do it first try.

I often wonder if the reason so many student pilots struggle is aviation attracts the more tech oriented types while the guys who would be "naturals" at flight are off racing motorcycles or playing team sports.

exactly not the types that get selected by the airlines, and for a reason. the tech oriented are more forward and abstract thinking, analyzing, calmer, less emotional. crew resource management is not the same as playing team sports. 😊

Reminds me of the Aeroflot Captain that let his son sit at the controls during a flight, and somehow, the kid turned off the autopilot by moving the yoke too far, and the A 310 stalled and spun in killing everyone on board.

ChildsPlay. And we pay Captains 300K a year for Technology that can land itself and radio chatter that can be accomplished by 9 year olds.

Her annunciation and use of correct terms like "niner" for nine is spot on. However she clearly does not fully understand the comms, she is just repeating back what her dad tells her to say.

The hard part of comms is remembering what ATC have just said, being able to repeat it back correctly and then comprehend exactly what they have actually asked you to do and comply if safe to do so.  She is clearly still at the "learn to repeat back clearly"  stage.

Her ability to actually fly for more than a short period unassisted is also debatable. Aside from the inability to reach the pedals he is still instructing her with comments like nose up and nose down. Bare in mind though that some other 6 year olds play violin concertos or perform crazy skateboard tricks not to mention speak multiple languages all things adults often struggle to learn.

What she does demonstrate in some other videos is a surprising ability to program the FMS and use the autopilot with minimal prompting.  At one point she gets a little confused about the difference between VS and FLC but seems to be really on top of it for a six year old.
