July 19, 20232 yr Back in MSFS, so that I don't forget how to use it! I wanted to check out a bunch of freeware airports from the .to site. These pix are from Audley End, which is maybe ten minutes north of Stansted. I know the area as my sister lives around there, and I've driven past Audley End house many times (well, I've seen the signs for it but can't say I've ever been aware of the actual property or airstrip. The same author has done a bunch of other airfields and I downloaded them all but haven't tried them all yet. I suspect I'll be going back and making a suitable donation tomorrow, this and the one other I have seen are very nice. You can get EGTS here - https://flightsim.to/file/55539/audley-end-airfield-egts Thought I'd use the Wilga, as I have just been using one in XP and enjoyed it. First, let me be quite clear, this is a cow sim, right? Oh, sorry, no, it's a goat sim This is all actually quite fun. All the animals and people are animated, so it really is very lifelike. I love it, YMMV. How did these get in here? Little pixel person walking up and down waving his arm about as he's on his phone. Oh, you want to see some actual flying? Not sure if that's Audley End House down there or not That's the M11 motorway between the wheels Stansted ahead of us I'll keep away from the runway, and put down there instead I need to re-calibrate my pedals/brakes I think. I was wandering about all over the shop on landing, just couldn't hold a straight line, plus I could not get the d*mn thing to actually stop. By the time I'd hit every switch I could find (I'd long since given up on the brakes and didn't have an anchor handy) I was way up some path somewhere. Anyway, an enjoyable flight. And this is the IniBuilds Stansted so I shall do another flight with the AI all turned up and explore around the airport a bit more next. I've been playing with XP12 for a week or so now, and really been enjoying it. I love the vibe and the look of it. But then I fire up MSFS, and I also really love the vibe and look of that as well. Whichever one I'm in feels totally great, and yet they do have a quite different look and feel. I have absolutely zero interest in comparing them, particularly in any context of whichever is most "realistic", I'm just happy to have two absolutely top quality sims available to me now. July 19, 20232 yr Man, the first half on the ground look so inviting with all those beautiful trees. I enjoyed them. Jack Sawyer
July 20, 20232 yr Thanks for making us aware of this great little strip Andy. I have heard of the place but I had no idea where it was until now. You have done an excellent job showing it off, livestock and all. Edited July 20, 20232 yr by VH-KDK
July 21, 20232 yr Great fun, thanks for the zootour 🙂 There seems to be a bit of Wilga in the air: I was wandering about all over the shop on landing, just couldn't hold a straight line, plus I could not get the d*mn thing to actually stop. By the time I'd hit every switch I could find (I'd long since given up on the brakes and didn't have an anchor handy) I was way up some path somewhere. The Wilga is broken no question, my very experience when landing at the Scilly Isles, I mean I o S.

For me it was more of a "I knew about the place but didn't realise they had an airstrip" experience On 7/20/2023 at 2:00 PM, edetroit said: Noice! Is the Audley End miniature railway in the scenery? Thanks Ed, and I certainly didn't notice anything but I might go back and look for it On 7/21/2023 at 10:14 AM, WingZ said: Great fun, thanks for the zootour 🙂 There seems to be a bit of Wilga in the air: The Wilga is broken no question, my very experience when landing at the Scilly Isles, I mean I o S. Cheers Wingz. I have the same problem with a few similar aircraft, so I hesitate to say for sure it's the Wilga. In my case, it's probably more my landing skills!
