IniBuild's EGSS Stansted - brilliant!

Featured Replies

I've been exploring a few small strips around the Essex/Herts area, and found myself being drawn to EGSS on most of those flights. The IniBuilds version is quite simply one of the best airports I've ever seen in a sim. I have been spending hours just wandering around, inside and out, and I've probably takne a couple of hundred shots of the place (but don't panic, I don't plan to post them all. Well, maybe not . . .)

It's strange really. I find an airport done like this absolutely fascinating in a sim, but I would be horrified to have to spend time there in real life. In some ways, that's the most remarkable thing about scenery as good as this - how it totally captures what I can only describe as the pristine mundanity of a slick modern airport. If the whole built environment were done to this standard we could really start talking about the "digital twin" concept with accuracy. I suspect we'll get to that point and I hope it happens while I'm still around.

So, this set is mainly internals, and won't necessarily appeal to the pure fliers amongst you, but if you have any interest in the scenery you might enjoy this. I will post another set more focussed on the externals and the flight activity later on. But we'll start with the "big picture" view, and maybe wonder what it must be like to live in that house centre front. Hope they've got triple glazing.

Big "wide open spaces" feel to the place

Even things like the coach/bus park are perfectly modelled

"Welcome", it says, so lets go insinde

So you can see, there is a direct rail link fo this airport, down the ramp to the left

This is the ramp to the right in the entrance, leading up to the terminal. You can see the trains below

There's also the airport bus option

And here we are inside

This time of the year (probably most times) I suspect it would be rather busier than this

Shuttle interiors are modelled but you can't travel on them (unless you're a better man with the drone cam than me)

Wherever you go inside the terminals there are all sorts of impressive details

And the pixel people are also very impressive. Not your usual zombies.

Strongly recommend this one. Before anyone asks, performance is perfectly fine, or it is on my system (but that's fairly chunky)

Great shots and tour Andy! 😉

I'll echo that!
I do this in advance of airports I travel to, helps not getting bewildered on the day.

But I'm still ambivalent about airport interiors in flightsim - they don't actually have only 3 people populating a concourse in real life (would that it were!), and they also definitely don't stand still. So as far as immersion is concerned: no.

But they do make for nice screenshots, I always go looking for the coffee counter 🙂

Wandering for hours, huh? Keep that up and you'll soon be facing vagrancy charges. 🙂

A beautiful set Andy.

Not only the train included but the inside of the train too!

What will they come up with next?

I am using this Airport in MSFS and yes it is an excellent One !

Fine shots Andy..

cheers 😉

Never been to Stansted and seen the security queues *ever* this empty.
Normally, the queues back out well past the boarding pass gateline.

Literally unplayable! I hope you got a refund from iniBuilds... 😆
