Your bandwith is too low

Featured Replies

This afternoon, everytime I start MSFS i am told my bandwith is too low, going to switch to off line mode.

My bandwith is not to low it is 1300Mbits.

I seems to be seeing this  on week end days?

Anyone seeing this problem?

Thanks

Jim Brady

If you're getting 1300Mbits on internet speed tests but seeing a "too low bandwidth" message from MSFS, your ISP is likely selectively throttling programs that use high-speed streaming (such as MSFS). See the thread below for an explanation and solution:

Processor: Intel i9-13900KF 5.8GHz 24-Core, Graphics Processor: Nvidia RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6, System Memory: 64GB High Performance DDR5 SDRAM 5600MHz, Operating System: Windows 11 Home Edition, Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX, LGA 1700, CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling, RGB and LCD Display, Chassis Fans: Corsair Low Decibel, Addressable RGB Fans, Power Supply: Corsair HX1000i Fully Modular Ultra-Low-Noise Platinum ATX 1000 Watt, Primary Storage: 2TB Samsung Gen 4 NVMe SSD, Secondary Storage: 1TB Samsung Gen 4 NVMe SSD, VR Headset: Meta Quest 2, Primary Display: SONY 4K Bravia 75-inch, 2nd Display: SONY 4K Bravia 43-inch, 3rd Display: Vizio 28-inch, 1920x1080. Controller: Xbox Controller attached to PC via USB.

Either the MS servers or your ISP seem to be throttling your connection.  It might be worth trying a VPN though speeds vary

I use Nord VPN and sometimes set it to a country where everyone is asleep when I am simming (usually Australia or Japan depending on the time).

I assume you have tried hard resetting your router (I do this from time to time as a part of my system maintenance routine).

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

I was getting a similar alert a few weeks back but haven't seen it recently.  I do, however have the issue where it takes literally days to re-download/reinstall MSFS. It is odd that some have this issue, others do not.  I have tried VPN software that connects me through another country, and every other suggestion I could find with no avail.  It isn't my connection, or my provider.  I download and play many other online games without issue and have done speed tests.

Our issues are likely related if you have done the same as I.  The only thing I can think of is that it is somehow geographically related.  I have never had this issue with an online connection with the many online games I have used.  The only common denominator is MSFS.

I'm necroing this thread instead of starting a new one. Does MSFS REALLY need to interrupt the flight with this message😠 It's VERY inconvenient on longer flights where I might not always be present at the flight deck...

Btw I can’t see my embedded image from Imgur on my iPad…

I loathe this message and window when it pops up for the same reasons you do. Thankfully, it's been awhile since I've had to see it, but it used to really frustrate me. Such an intrusive, in your face 'warning' like you PC is about to melt down. Why not just something in one of the upper corners to indicate the same message? Seems way to simple.

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN  Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Not only is it intrusive, but it pauses the flight. Which on longer flights is not much fun unless one intends to sit at the PC for the duration of the flight (something I never do). And I 100% agree with you - they should make it a much less intrusive "heads-up" message that doesn't require any user interaction. If the user wishes to turn off PG, he/she is free to do so.
