October 12, 20232 yr Like a lot of people, I've been flying the new Black Square TBM 850 around like crazy. Most of my flying has been short hops, practice approaches, VFR sightseeing etc. This afternoon I wanted to stretch my legs and take her up to FL300. It's a little over a 2 hour flight from KMYL to KMRY in the TBM850. I didn't have much of a tailwind, (and had a heck of a crosswind). But she flew at book numbers and I ended up with about 320 kts over the ground for most of the trip. With a distance of 550+ miles I needed to split my adventure into two parts. Part 1 is taxi, takeoff, climb/cruise. Part 2 will be initial descent into the Bay area, and then onto Monterey. The stunning livery is by Tim-HH. The lovely scenery is from BMW and Orbx. Please enjoy! Fancy looking Mercedes (and C206!) in the background....my ride is nice too Untitled-1 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Initial departure calls for NW winds and light-moderate rain - we'll depart RY 34 - we'll also be maintaining our own terrain and obstruction clearance until reaching Salt Lake Center's minimum IFR altitude around 12,000 or so.
