October 21, 20232 yr It's a murky day here in the PNW of the USA. But it's a perfect day for an IFR flight from Bowerman to Orcas Island in the TBM 850. Cruise is 17,000 ft and routing is: KHQM ULESS T263 ARRIE ORCUS (RNAV 34) KORS By the time we reach FL170, we're nearly at TOD, so please enjoy the photos from my trip. Absolutely lovely HQM freeware from @vbazillio and KORS scenery by Orbx. My favorite colored livery by @Tim-HH! Everyone knows the Black Square TBM by now, and mine is equipped with TDS GTN 750Xi and GNS 530W. With this overcast it's still VFR but we'll pop into the bases right after gear retraction Untitled-1 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Climb aboard as we shut the cabin door Untitled-2 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr RY 6/24 is indeed long enough for smaller jets - with traditional and RNAV approaches it's a great airport to fly into with any weather Untitled-3 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Quickly in the soup, but it's fairly bright - I'd expect the tops to come any moment Untitled-4 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Clouds are much more broken looking south Untitled-6 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr The Olympic Mountains which we'll be flying directly over shortly Untitled-7 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr The two cooling towers of former Sastop Nuclear Power Plant. (For some reason these seem active haha) - the plant was essentially closed and abandoned in 1982. As I understand, the plant was never in operation. Untitled-8 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Still maintaining a nice 1500fpm rate of climb up to 17,000 - Olympic mountains are dead ahead - the summit of Mt Olympus lies at 7980 ft. Untitled-9 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr To our SE is Mt Rainier and Mt Adams (summits at 14,110 ft and 12,276 ft, respectively) Untitled-10 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Here we are approaching the Olympus summit Untitled-11 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Pulling the metar, and the chart for the RNAV 34 into KORS as we begin our descent Untitled-13 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Port Angeles airport KCLM and the Pacific Ocean (Strait of Juan de Fuca) Untitled-14 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Victoria Canada Untitled-16 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Everyone should know this airport! Typical PNW weather but a bustling marine and harbor still... Untitled-17 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr There's a ferry on the Sidney, BC (victoria) / Anacortes, WA route Untitled-18 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Can't make out the airport yet but we have LP+V mins, plenty low enough to get us below the deck Untitled-19 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Truly lovely weather (well not for me! but I bet some enjoy it) Untitled-20 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr There we are Untitled-21 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Biplane rides are apparently still active Untitled-22 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Sip some Jet A before departing to our next destination... October 21, 20232 yr Despite the weather conditions, a lovely series of (PNW) images, Ryan... Your TDS GTN 750Xi looks like top-of-the-line avionics in the SIM...🙂 ...Reminds me of the RXP GTN.., Also, glad, you (already) tried out the new Bowerman airport scenery.... liked your last 2 pictures of it... Thanks for sharing. Edited October 21, 20232 yr by P_7878

I recently picked up Harvey and W16 and they do create that original small GA field feeling. We do have so many nice freewares for the PNW I can understand why they haven't really kept up with their payware development though. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
