Trackir v5 startup issues

hmm, I assume you have tried redownloading the latest TIR driver. Obviously something is interfering with your connection. Have you tried running MSFS with no community folder and no additional startup programs other than TIR?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.  It has nothing to do with MSFS starting but the starting of the Trackir software.  Once I get the 4 red lights on the Trackir camera it works fine in MSFS, it is just the starting of the Trackir program that takes about 20 x to recognize the camera.  Once recognized I then start MSFS and all works well.

There is too much misunderstanding in this thread. It has nothing to do with MSFS, they are talking about the track IR software itself. You launch it and it shuts down immediately and you have to keep starting it until it sticks. As I said, I had this issue after a fresh install of windows and the latest download from Natural Point. It has cleared itself up but it was exactly the same issue and it had me scratching my head as well.

I'm having +/- the same with a TrackIR4 on TrackIR 5 software. When i launch the TrackIR software, "sometimes" the camera doesn't get active (the 4 red dots inside the TrackIR then don't lit up) and then the sim (let it be MSFS or DCS or any other) doesn't recognize that TrackIR is running.
Solution is to kill the TrackIR software and restart. I need to do this only once though, never twice. It always works after a restart.
So for it not being recognized by the sim (because not active), i check first if TrackIR is active before launching any sim.
Switching USB ports (directly or through hub) doesn't change anything in this behavior.

I have virtually the same problem 9 out of 10 times I run TrackIR. V4 hardware but obviously v5 software. On many 1st starts the 4 red lights do not come on so I have to open Task Manager and end the task before restarting it. This is prior to starting the sim.

No need to open Task Manager, just use Taskbar settings and set the TrackIR icon to show all the time in taskbar when it's active.
This way when you run TrackIR, a TrackIR icon will show on the right in the Taskbar, just hover over it, rightclick and then select Exit.
