December 23, 20232 yr I am running Trackir v5 and had no issues until the last several months. Upon restart every day I have to start then restart Trackir about 20 times before it is finally recognized. Then it works just fine in MSFS. It is just annoying to start and restart it so many times each day to get it going. I have tried switching to ports but no difference (it is plugged directly into a USB port on the computer). Any ideas? Thanks Darcy

Any ideas? Thanks Darcy I had this problem last week when I installed Windows 11. An online search led me to Natural Points forum where it was suggested to delete a couple of config files so they could be rebuilt which did work at first and then it started again. However, It cleared up and works again now. No idea what the problem was. Perhaps it was windows and an update fixed it. I honestly, don't know. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
December 24, 20232 yr I'm having +/- the same with a TrackIR4 on TrackIR 5 software. When i launch the TrackIR software, "sometimes" the camera doesn't get active (the 4 red dots inside the TrackIR then don't lit up) and then the sim (let it be MSFS or DCS or any other) doesn't recognize that TrackIR is running. Solution is to kill the TrackIR software and restart. I need to do this only once though, never twice. It always works after a restart. So for it not being recognized by the sim (because not active), i check first if TrackIR is active before launching any sim. Switching USB ports (directly or through hub) doesn't change anything in this behavior. December 24, 20232 yr I've been getting this issue ever since I got TrackIR 5. A bit annoying but it usually starts OK after 2or 3 attempts. One thing I have noticed is that originally, I had to start it before starting MSFS, but now it seems to work if I start it after MSFS. December 24, 20232 yr I leave my Track IR software on all the time. Just starts MSFS, and it is working.

My approach was to write a batch file to start TrackIR, MSFS, Littlenavmap and FSLTL at one click. December 24, 20232 yr I've found that TrackIR is sensitive to USB Version 2 (black) versus USB Version 3 (blue) ports on my PC. Mine is intermittant in not working when it's plugged into a USB3 port, but works flawlessly in a USB2 port. But it is odd - sometimes "TrackIR" appears as one of my hardware controllers in MSFS's hardware lists at the top of the screen. Other times it's not there! But it generally works first start now. Like Bob, my TIR ssoftware launches with my PC and justs sits inactive, until I hit the 'pause' key assignment to turn it on. I have noticed that if I get a CTD in MSFS, it will not work after the restart - I have to close the TIR software and restart it. But in all other situations, I can just start, close, restart MSFS throughout the day and it always just works. I suspect the issues now are due to Win 11 updates, rather than anything in MSFS. December 24, 20232 yr Author I know it is not an MSFS issue but very annoying to have to start it 10-20 times before the 4 red dots come on. Good to know I am not the only one who has the issue.
December 24, 20232 yr Moderator On the occasions when TIR is not recognized, I just run the Mouse Emulation and it works just fine. Doesn't happen often but easier to emulate than track a bug. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

That does not help with my issue of the Tracker not being recognized on starting the software (4 red lights not on) and the need to continually open and close (20x) till it is recognized by the computer and the 4 lights come on.

Obviously something is interfering with your connection. Have you tried running MSFS with no community folder and no additional startup programs other than TIR? December 26, 20232 yr I don't quite understand why it is shut off between flights. Been using it for a decade and a half, and never did that??/
