P3dv6 gsync and vert sync issues

Featured Replies

Hello All ! and happy new year !

I am running into gsync and vert sync issues in v6 ( did not try v5):

The issues i run into is twofold:

1. G-sync works fine untill you undock a window ( in my case a gps ) and slew it onto another screen. G-sync stops working then.
Docking the window again in the main screen will make g-sync working again but an external gps is impossible that way.

2. Trying to solve it using vsync etc causes strange behavior, it works , no tearing but a lot of stuttering. I have tried all kinds of combinations.

Wierd thing is when i activate and then de activate tripple buffer the screen is smooth and it goes to half the refresh rate of the screen, doesn t matter at what herz i put the screen its always half of that . But smooth . I need to do this every time i restart p3d.

It is this way an all v6 versions (incl 6.1) . have not tried it on other versions.

Graphics card is rtx 4080 with latest driver ( driver change doesnt matter i tried) and running triple screen in nvidia surround and en extra small touchscreen for the gps .

Thanks !

This sounds similar to the issue with the green text bar that we had in v5

It was a common thing with the fsl airbus

It was raised countless times on each subsequent release and each time nothing was done.

One of reasons I happy look p3d off my machine.

Hi @remcosol,

I don't know what @fluffyflops is talking about myself (and there are no provided reference links) but I'd be checking / testing the following.

  • Does v6.1 include a variable refresh rate config option ?
  • I assume all the monitors are GSync types ?
  • Is or can GSync be enabled on all monitors / windows separately ?
    • (don't have a GSync monitor set up here, just 30Hz capable monitors).
  • Is the maximum P3D frame rate set in the Nvidia control panel for the P3D profile ?
    • (for example I have mine set to 60 fps so I can perform a vsync at either 30 or 60 hz, or just disable vsync and achieve 60 fps as the max, the intent being to prevent P3D running at maximum fps to preserve resources for overall higher gfx settings)
  • Are there any other settings specifically configured in the Nvidia control panel for the P3D profile ?
  • You mentioned you haven't tried the GSync config with P3D v5, I assume that means you have P3D v5 and you could trial such a configuration  in v5 ?

As I don't have either GSync monitors or v6.1 the above are just the sort of places I would be looking / testing settings with as a starting point.

Cheers

Not directly related BUT! in v6 if we set VSync only through NCP and not in sim, it doesn't work correctly. Has to be set both in sim and in NCP...

There is an option in NCP to choose whether we want GSync in full screen or windowed.

Hello all!

Gsync works fine, in nvidia cp set up and vrr in p3dv6. Problem is it brakes as soon as you undock a window to slew it to another monitor, that is not gsync!.

You can only dock it again on the main window but then it works fine again. Seperate gps is not usable.

Vertical sync behaviour is wierd , tried to set it up with 60 hz ( monitor can run at 60 hz but 165 is native) but in p3dv6.1 performance is an issue and running 3x 2k at 60hz is a struggle....

So GSync stops working when a window is undocked and dragged onto a non-gsync'd monitor.

I guess that would be a limitation of GSync, given the lowest common denominator monitor P3D is running on would be the non-gsync'd monitor.

Might need a 4th GSync monitor, I take it if the undocked window is dragged onto a GSync capable monitor GSync still works ?

You probably don't need the P3D vertical sync option enabled, given gysnc will be do doing just that anyway, and like you've mentioned, maintaing 60 hz vsync (for 60 fps) would be a challenging senario. Although the Nvidia control panel does have a half vsync option, meaning you could set the monitor to 60 hz and use the half vsync option perhaps?

Also if you limited P3D in the Nvidia control panel to 30 fps max, if the monitors are true gsync then they should be able to vsync down to ~1 hz, a 30hz vsync (for 30 fps) is much less demanding on the CPU / GPU.

Just throwing a few ideas out here as I don't have any gsync monitors myself.

Cheers

No it stops working full stop, also when i disconnect the other monitor . So just by undocking the window...

Thanks for the reply,

The monitor is g sync compatible, It will upscale 30 fps to 60 etc .

I have found a work around using 100 hz setting on the monitor , 50 fps with vert sync and triple buffer ( causes another wierd thing see my other thread) and nv inspector with 1/2 refresh rate etc but would like g-sync to be usable.
