2080Ti has died, need a replacement.

Hello,

My beloved 2080Ti died yesterday and I need a quick replacement before MS2024 requirements are announced. I just need a card that would perfectly fit into my 2018 ASUS MB (I have 9900k@5.0). I'm thinking about getting 4070Ti in Microcenter tomorrow. Also, I'm worrying if 1,000W PSU would be enough.

Hello, yes the 4070ti would be great. And Yes, the 1000w PSU will be fine.

However, if you can wait 2 weeks the new super variants will be out and you should be able to order them at MSRP, not the insane way over MSRP they are now.

A 1 KW PSU is plenty for any single video card out there, assuming you don't have something weird in your config like a whole bunch of old hard drives in a RAID array.

I run a 13900k and a 4090 on a 1000w PS. Plenty of power.

Sorry to hear about that it such a great card after many years now.......You might want to wait on the super cards also. about the power supply... I have been fine even with 750 powering a 7900xt But I always go as low as 850 watts that's what I have and its fine the 1000 is plenty is enough.

Check out the 4080 SUPER below this thread runs 4K no problem and consumes less power than the present 4080. will run happily on a 850W PSU.

One more question before I'm heading to Microcenter. The PSU I have was installed new 5 years ago (2018/19 NY). Do you think it's still capable to maintain good power level?

I just thought that 4070 will be intermediate solution for me before MS2024 arrives and actual understanding what hardware do we need to run it. If MSFS2024 would be solely DX12 simulator, then, I'm afraid, 24GB of VRAM is the only answer and we all know, what is the name (and the price) of this GPU.

Depends on the quality and how hard you've pushed it in those 5 years.  Brand name is an indicator of quality (but not definitive).

I've got a couple high-quality older PSUs built with good Japanese capacitors rather than cheap Chinese ones, that have been run at least 30% below the PSU's rated power capacity and kept clean with periodic compressed air blowouts--they're pushing 10 years old.

The 3080 was a good deal. The 4080, not at all.

A 3080 was around £1000 in the UK before the 40 series for a 10GB card. The 4080 will likely blow it away in benchmarks in couple of weeks.
