any fix yet on start on runway bug?

Recommended Posts

I still am having a problem when I first select a gate, it starts me on the active runway.  Is there a fix for this yet?  I'm sick of starting on the runway just to have to quit to main menu and reselect the gate to finally start where I wanted.

How are you selecting the gate? It does not work if you click on the gate symbol on the world map. You need to select the gate using the drop-down menu.

Selecting the gate/parking via the map works fine for me, but if I change the flightplan sometimes the start location reverts to the runway.
Also, when you are importing a flightplan, if the starting location isn't exactly right it will also revert to the runway.

The best option, at least what I do, is when you are finished setting up the flight (weather, flightplan etc) before you press start, zoom in in your departure airport and check that there the line that indicates the flightplan is actually starting from your parking spot. If it is starting at the runway, reselect your starting spot.

I think the trick is to always ensure that gate selection is the very last thing you do before clicking on "fly". IMHO, the MSFS GUI needs a total rewrite ... it's a mess.

yes still a bug for me

I think others are saying effectively the same thing here, but the fix for me is - select the aircraft first, then the gate

if i select the gate accidentally first, i then select the plane, then select another gate, and then the one i want

real pita

This is the workaround I use as well.

Imagine that you select small gate  for regional airliner and after that select heavy 747 aircraft. It simply won't fit! So logical sequence would be select aircraft first then parking spot of gate appropriate to that aircraft size.

It's a bug I've never encountered, I didn't even know it existed.

It has been my experience, too, so I've just made it a habit to check/reselect the starting position right before clicking "Fly". And I fully agree on the GUI, don't even get me started on the lack of "favorite" functionality for planes...
