Horizon Sim/LVFR Airbus A319

Featured Replies

I came across a video on youtube for an A319 from Horizon Sim/LVFR that might have had some sort of FBW mod to it.  From what I read about the FVFR planes is that they aren't very in depth and not worth it but this is the first time I have seen something about a FBW mod and Horizon Sim.  Can anyone tell me more about this solution?  I primarily fly the Fenix 320 so my guess is that this is not as in depth but was wondering if it has a fairly deep feature set and flight characteristics.  It might tide me over until the Fenix releases their V2 eventually and their 319 down the  road.  Thought I would see if there were any reviews or if you can detail anything more specific about this plane.  Thanks!

I find it works great with the Horizon mod. Basically it's FBW.

Purchase the LVFR Aircraft of choicethen download the appropriate MOD form the Headwind/Horizon App and you have an airbus with FBW Controls

I suggest downloading the free A32NX from the FBW team and see if it's deep enough for you. If you like it, you can then consider buying the A319 and use the FBW mod for that (which will be the exact same systems with some minor flight dynamics adaptions to the A319).

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I have some familiarity with the FBW as I flew that exclusively until the Fenix came out.  I am sure there are loads of improvements in the last year or 2 so from that standpoint it might be worth looking into.  But correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you buy the LVFR 319 and basically that gives you the visual characteristics of an A319 without the proper flight characteristics and parameters of  a 319.  You then get the Horizon mod via their app and that gives you FBW's 320 resources (fbw, MCDU, ect) to fly with a visual 319.  So basically you are flying with 320 characteristics and 319 visuals?

And not to play the what is better game, but what features does this 319 with the mod lack compared to the Fenix?

Horizon have tweaked the aircraft data to resemble the A319 more. Like proper fuel amount and burn,  accurate cargo and passenger capacity. They also have a custom MFD engine page for the IAE engine variants.

Don't ask me what exactly what else they've changed, I just fly the thing, I have no idea how it works underneath lol.

None of the FBW-based mods (FBW, Horizon, Headwinds, etc.) have:

- Independant MCDUs

- Full RNAV FINAL_APP mode

- Missed approaches already in the MCDU

- Working secondary flight plans

- Any sort of takeoff calculator other than "entering in 2/ for flaps and having it set the speeds".

Thank you for this info

If you have the Fenix, when the a319/a321 package comes out you will be much happier with that than shoving a FBW mod on top of an LVFR a319.

They have adapted flight characteristics, but only within the limits of what is possible, so don't expect study level. Me personally I bought the A321neo because no dev is working on this, so that's a worthwhile investment. I can wait for Fenix' A319 and A321ceo, though.
