Some of the Dune terrain stuff are actually out in the world, a helpful redditor has posted coordinates

Quote

Here are the real world coordinates of the places of Dune if anyone wants to just wander around.

They are not exactly the same, rocks are there, but the desert is not. But still pretty cool.

Race to Arrakeen

14.843922, 24.198472

Mountain dive

15.719561, 15.172119

Hole in the rock

12.078686, 23.541747

Canyon Rush

10.244797, 28.500772

Desert run

6.657067, 26.629642

Coriolis Storm Escape

6.266758, 24.294808

Those are all places in the Sahara, right?  Very cool.

Just think, 7,000-8,000 years ago those places were a lot wetter than today, imagine grasslands in that scenery.

they're all over Sudans except one that's in the CAR. I'm guessing Asobo shoved them in the middle of Africa where people would be least likely to run into them.

Or it's a bug and they're not supposed to spawn outside of the DLC content.

Pretend that you're not Andrey and not under NDA and let loose on all your thoughts about MSFS 2024's flight dynamics improvements that you would love to see happen, in theory ... 😜

Ok, I tried hehe... in any case, if it's indeed you then welcome aboard, and so great that you're on the MSFS team! Looking forward to any future stuff that you *are* allowed to talk about.

I agree. because in our instincts we hate such insects, let alone this monster size. but the flight model is 100% realistic study level. 😃

Hate Dragonflies...?

They are bad a** and eat many things that actually do hurt us!

And once in a great while you can get one to ornithopter down onto your fingertip. Wild feeling (just from them hanging on - they don't bite (us))

Hey Petrovich, you are a legend! I can't wait to see what you and Seb have cooked up for the flight model in MSFS 2024!

BTW, there is an 8 page long thread here at Avsim about you joining Asobo:

If they were, they would be in Jordan, because this is where the rock formations were filmed for the movie. But since they show up in Sudan, they are not really supposed to be there.

I asked the user on reddit, he found them by having LittleNavMap open while doing the event and copying down the coordinates.

I'm guessing them existing outside of the missions is a bug.

That makes sense, in a way.   Maybe when you're doing the DLC missions, the sim has to put you "somewhere" in the world even if it's a closed map (and it is a closed map, from what I hear).   That somewhere must be in the middle of Africa, as others mention.
