February 16, 20242 yr OK...🙂...first of all, this post is inspired by a recent member post, here, of a coastal trip, across the Martian-looking terrains, in southern Morocco, from Agadir further south to Dakhla. But there are a few other motivations for me too to explore Morocco, in "MSFS", something quite inconceivable, in my previous SIM versions. I'd recently (virtually) visited Tunisia via a Post here, and explored bits of the Atlas Mountains, while flying westward till the border of Algeria. Morocco comes further west, past Algeria. The highest of the Atlas Mountains occur in northern Morocco, my points of interest in this post... Now, about that James Bond part...being a fan of the Secret Agent, among all the films (new and old), "Spectre" is the one I probably like the best. I've it in a composite DVD collection Box with all of Craig's Bond films...🙂... (except, of course, the last one where he supposedly called it day for his Bond pastime and gave up his fictional life), I'd picked up, during Christmas holidays, from the local Walmart store, from one of those bins of piled up DVDs (you need to really dig in deep and churn the DVDs to get to what you want...🙂..). Anyway, "Spectre" features a most thrilling aviation sequence, which I easily recall. Bond, an ever-versatile aviator (and pre-certified in all sorts of a/c, from the slowest gliders to the fastest jets), pilots a BN-2 Islander, actually, more like, deploys it as a (wings-stripped) ground-vehicle, likely not authorized by the operating manual of the aircraft. Anyway, there are some other captivating scenes in that film out of Morocco. The desert scenes, the crater, and the delightful images of the "Oriental Desert Express", making its way on that arid and haunting landscape, are all from Morocco. There is an intense action sequence, too, within that Train itself... (though those scenes were reportedly shot NOT in Morocco, but in the Pinewood Studios, near London...) ... In this post, I've tracked the 3 tallest peaks of the (High) Atlas Mountains, while travelling southwest from the northern (port) city of Tétouan (Airport GMTN), to the coastal city of Agadir (Airport GMAD). I've visited the 3 peaks, highest in Morocco and the entire Atlas Range, in the following order (actually two of these, I found, stand shoulder-to-shoulder, within couple of miles of each other): (1) M'Goun (13,356 ft), shot #s (10-11), (2) Toubkal (13,671 ft - highest), and (3) Ouanoukrim (13,415 ft), Toubkal's Twin, (see shot #s (12-13), one can supposedly walk from the summit of one to that of the other in < 2 hours). With the Lat/Long co-ordinates set on the FMS of the (Asobo) A320 (see my 3 Custom Waypoints on the close-up ND shot), I've overflown these 3 peaks, during my flight, eventually landing on Agadir's ILS Runway 27. I must say, the unique color of Morocco (aka: Red) is also represented on these Mountains. I've never seen such an intricate mixture of Green/Red/Black hues in any of my many (virtual/MSFS) escapades into the Alps, Himalayas, and the Andes...quite fascinating indeed. Hope you enjoy this collection of my images, out of northern Morocco, of the South African flying in North Africa...🙂...and of these Atlas Range of Mountains that start in the Atlantic coast of Morocco and end in the Mediterranean shores of Tunisia...standing tall and isolating us from the massive and stark Sahara deserts... Thanks for viewing and your interest...!
February 16, 20242 yr Interesting flight. All those rugged peaks should satisfy your mountain cravings for awhile, I should think. 🙂
February 16, 20242 yr Great set of photos...and an area I have not yet explored in MSFS. Agree with you on the colors...beautiful! Although, I think I would have expected you to use a Lockheed Electra 12A (or a reasonable facsimile! from Casablanca) for a nice low and slow tour of that beautiful scenery! Maybe that can be a future photo essay!  😊
February 16, 20242 yr Brilliant set, P. Fascinating area that I need to explore more. It's when you get to look around at all the shots in here you begin to realise how big this little planet of ours is. And yet in the universal scheme of things we're not even the proverbial mote. Or as a dialog I heard and liked put it - "it's a small world", "yeah, but you wouldn't want to paint it". Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

February 18, 20242 yr Author Folks: Many thanks for the thoughtful comments...🙂...!  On 2/16/2024 at 4:18 PM, rmeier said: ...Although, I think I would have expected you to use a Lockheed Electra 12A (or a reasonable facsimile! from Casablanca) for a nice low and slow tour of that beautiful scenery! I actually did a post more than 3 years ago with Title, "Re-visiting Casablanca - the Airport and the Film..." along with a Lockheed Electra, the post is still around I checked... but there's, of course, no identifiable scenery of Morocco/Casablanca in that post....🙂...Cheers...!
February 19, 20242 yr nice landscape shots, MFS is so cool in that respect All my FSX/P3D repaints are here on Avsim, for my MSFS repaints, go to FS.2

Quite true, e.g., it was unthinkable to explore North Africa in the previous SIMs...  On 2/20/2024 at 12:54 AM, RockOla said: Nice shots 😉 I'll try to post some more we must promote this country 😋 Appreciated the note, and, yes, you have more real reasons than my (mythical) fictional character...🙂...
