MSFS Auto FPS App

Featured Replies

I've noticed that Frame Generation isn't always on, and as a result my frame rate often stutters and drops down into the 30s. Given I have a 4070 Ti Super, this really shouldn't be happening, should it? I've tried it with Auto Target FPS both enabled and disabled without success.

i switch auto fps off and my TLOD and OLED set at 200 and its smooth sailing thou my system should handle it just fine

Smooth during ground/climb and stutters at cruise is the opposite of what we would expect. And I agree, your system should handle this. And does so lower down. Did this just start to happen?

Btw another person just reported the same in the other AutoFPS thread. I don't think AutoFPS has anything to do with this, unless it would make significant TLOD changes up at cruise level.

FG is disabled whenever MSFS is not in focus - this is likely the reason for your FPS drops.

Yes correct , I suspect it may be nvidia driver issue?

Panning around also stutters.

and then fps spikes and back to normal.

driver issue maybe?

A person in the other AutoFPS thread reported the same. He also mentioned stutters during panning. Btw I have a high-end rig and also get stutters when panning quickly - or changing between views. I don't think we can do anything to get rid of this.

I don't think AutoFPS has anything to do with this. So there's most likely another issue. Are you on the latest Nvidia driver? Did this start to happen after you upgraded the driver?

Okay, thanks, will look into this further.

This is very possible.

I have a 2080ti and was using the FG mod to great success since it's release. Coupling this with the Auto/dynamic mod, it was amazing. The most recent NVIDIA driver pretty much ruined it for me. So, I have turned FG off as it wasn't working well enough for MSFS (no update since its release) and use the AutoFPS.

I would reinstall AutoFPS, uncheck the expert settings, use autotarget for fps and keep it at IFR. Then, click expert settings and use FPS sensitivity down to 2 (not 5).

Make sure all traffic, other apps etc are completely off along with AV.

Follow this guide, if you haven't already to the T. https://github.com/ResetXPDR/MSFS2020_AutoFPS/blob/main/README.md

Because of the above, I am able to have fairly smooth fps altogether. Before, it was a stutter fest. Not just stutters but pausing that ruined everything.

Piett knows. This is why Vader "promoted" him directly after his superior.

Try my above advice and see if it works. I was getting the same.

Again, completely reinstall the autofps app.

In my opinion this app has nothing to do with stutter, stutter is an MSFS and sever issue. All this app does is reset TLOD and OLOD and clouds  depending on the users FPS

I feel your pain, I probably spend more time tweaking and troubleshooting than flying. When things are working 100% though (talking about the sim in general), it's pure bliss!

Haha, I got lucky with that promotion lol! Amazing I'm still alive (well, I'm not really, but hey, at least Vader didn't force choke me!). Thanks for sharing your problem-solving!

No, thank you for trying to help me. Hopefully if you were it was during an easy cruise in clear skies. Stop tweaking and fly that super star destroyer and try not to land it in the death star again.

On another note, this AutoFPS should still work with SU15? I have a feeling MS will release 15 with "extra" unbeknownst to the testers and it will break things again haha

Works beautifully with SU5! And I really do hope they won’t sneak in any more changes as IMO things are working really well now - both in terms of performance and stability.

I am sitting in a ramp and my FPS is 16 and my TLOD is 110 (!), as a result, I got "auto-stutters" :D.

Previous versions worked for me, but this one gives me stutters
