MSFS Auto FPS App

What do you mean by "running as admin" warning? Do you mean the app shows Admin in the title bar or does it fail the compatibility test and that is the advice it is giving you?

In any case, if you do see Admin in the title bar, the app is indeed running in Admin mode. Even though you may not have configured the app to start in Admin mode, if the parent app calling it is in Admin mode it will automatically inherit that privilege level. Is that what is happening?

From memory it was a warning pop-up, but - yes - you're correct: "Admin" does show in the title bar.

Are you saying that if Addons Linker is running in Admin mode then Auto FPS follows suit? I'll check!!! That could be the reason.

UPDATE: I checked my Linker. Sure enough, it was running with Admin privileges! Problem solved! I had no idea that privileges are inherited (something for me to keep an eye on).

As ever - I'll never get tired of thanking you for all your hard work!

Are you aware this is how FSUIPC was created many years ago? It takes a very clever person to disassemble a executable and analyse the contents. The original UIPC was created by Adam Zofran and then P

When should we use RTSS and when should we let the app pull fps from MSFS2024?

I saw your comment above about the new RC forcing it back to MSFS?

Thanks

Jim

The only time you can't get FPS from RTSS is when the app is configured for Dynamic FG (auto detected or manually set). RTSS always reports post-FG FPS, but for Dynamic FG it needs to be in pre-FG FPS (NFR) because the FG multiplier is variable. MSFS always provides this needed pre-FG FPS, hence why it is forced as the FPS source in 0.5.3.0 when Dynamic FG is active.

MSFS_AutoFPS v0.5.3.0 has just been formally released, available either through auto update in the app or from here. My thanks goes out to all who provided valuable feedback during the test phase.

This release re-baselines the app to MSFS 2024 SU6/SU7 beta, refines Dynamic FG integration, automates RTSS frozen data detection and recovery, provides admin privilege mismatch safeguards, enhances spike protection diagnostics, reduces log clutter and provides broad reliability fixes.
