Sorry I missed that. The problem is fixed for me. You are amazing.

No worries!

FYI, while auditing this code some more, I found another small bug, this one non-CTD causing, relating to the flight profile type list not shrinking to IFR and VFR only when switching from Expert to Non-Expert and still showing the extra Expert mode profiles. They can't be selected when like this anyway, so not an urgent one, but I will put out the fix in test25 fairly soon, probably once I've fixed the issue @Adamski_NZ encountered, if that turns out to be something different than what I already fixed.

In any case, it should be safe to remain on the test program. I am being super cautious now with anything I put out from now onlaugh

Interesting. Can you send me the text details from the two Event Viewer (under Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application) error events for that crash. Should look something like (this one is from the non-Expert mode bug

It didn't actually CTD ... it just never [auto] started ... so no error log there. Once in the sim (when I noticed it wasn't running) it started fine from my desktop shortcut. Going to try Test24 now ...

Well that's a relief, in a way. Nothing has changed on the auto start code for months, so it may just have been a coincidence this happened at the same time others were getting CTDs. Hopefully test24 will go back to normal for you. Actually, I will release test25 in a few minutes with the small fix I just mentioned, but there is no need to hold off for that as it is non-critical.

Pleased to report no issues with test25 :)

Excellent. Given this test phase has already run for 6 weeks and I am out of new things to add/fix for now, expect 0.5.2.0 to advance to RC shortly for release within the next week or so.

You must have chosen Man FG X3 at some point in time, where it will stay until you choose something else. If you are using in-game nVidia FG, switch Target FG FPS Type back to Auto and it should then auto-detect 2X FG when in a flight session.

I deleted MSFS auto fps and re installed it and it still showing x3 FG.......any ideas??

What exactly do you mean by you "deleted" AutoFPS? Did you uninstall via installer, as advised in the readme, by selecting Remove?

If you just wanted to reset the config files without uninstalling, all you have to do is check the Reset Configs checkbox in the installer and click Update:

Did you follow the instructions I initially provided? ie:

If still having an issue after all this, PM me the contents of your latest log file, located in %appdata%\MSFS\AutoFPS\log, and I will tell you exactly what is going on.

Just wanted to chime in with my experience.

I've been away from the sim for a year. I absolutely fell in love with this app back then.

Today I installed the latest RC build and did a test flight using non-expert settings. I had a lot of cracklilng audio and stuttering which was not my experience at all a year ago. Same hardware. Strange. So I asked Google Gemini and it recommended downgrading to 4.6.6 and that solved my problem. No crackling or stuttering at all. So I'm not sure what you've changed, but it's not good from my perspective.

My specs:

  • 4090, 9800X3D, Ultra settings, DLAA, 2XFG, 4K

  • Sim set to 300 TLOD, 200 OLOD

  • Typical FPS in VFR C208 is 80-90

  • V4.6.6

  • Set Target FG FPS to 70

  • Note I'm not using the 4.6.6 best performance plan option

With 4.6.6 I'm back in love with TLOD automatically adjusting from 300 to 800.

Interested in your thoughts on why I might have nasty stuttering on the latest build.

Did you enable the MSFS performance optimiser in 0.5.1.0? If so, you should have received a warning that such side effects of audio stuttering can occur on some user's systems and, if so, you should not use it. Was that it?

I don’t think so. I don’t recall a setting like that or a warning. I just installed it, ran it in non expert mode, VFR, set to 70 FPS FG.

I’m willing to give it another try but please advise as to what settings I should use/avoid to have a good experience.

I wanted to also thank you for developing this wonderful tool. I have been reading about it for a little while now, but decided to implement it for my airline flying. I downloaded it today installed it and it was extremely easy to use. And it did it job. I had absolutely zero issues on the ground during takeoff in flight or most importantly on descent and approach. There were no stutters.

Those settings you are using should be fine with either version of the app. The setting I am talking about in 0.5.1.0, that could possibly cause audio stutter compared to 0.4.6.6 and is only accessible in non-Expert mode if you go in to Expert settings and enable it in the first place, is this one:

Untitled.png

Without that option enabled and with your settings it should look something like this and not cause audio stutters:
