Today again I experienced that AutoFPS was not able to change tLOD on both systems  tLod remained at 50.

I found the issue. Where I did not experience any issues with 4.2..16 with 4.2.xx I do. It appears when Lossless Scaling is running.

Left view client is at X2 ( 1 display ) the server at X3 ( 2 displays )

My workaround is to close Lossless scaling , then close AutoFPS, run it again, close it again and then run it again. After that I run Lossless Scaling and then it works again.

Just checked : after 15 min of doing the trick the correct tLOD is still displayed.

It's possibly that auto targetFPS is involved in the issue as I haven't tested the new changes with it on yet. I will investigate. In the interim, try not using auto-target FPS and just pick a usual target FPS that auto FPS normally picks for you and see if that makes any difference.

You should never need to end AutoFPS in task manager. Per the readme, to exit the app, right click on the app icon in the system tray and select exit. Again per the readme, if you are not seeing the app window and the app is already running, just double click on the app icon in your system tray and the app window will open again.

Thanks, as always! I tried the new version. It is still kicking me out of the TLOD Mtns+ down to TLOD MAX and refusing to go back up under an IFR flight. It happened 3 or 4 times in my short flight from LSZH-LSZS. I had to switch to VFR and then back to IFR to get it to work again. I will attach the log below.

I wanted to test the decrease in TLOD in a mountain landing and it did well. I had one drop from 800 to 660 and then it remained there through the landing. That seems a lot smoother. Thanks again - just not sure what's going on with the IFR TLOD drops despite having FPS headroom.

The log file you attached seems to be from the previous test version as it does not contain the TLODRng log items I recently added. Please check you have the latest -test8 version installed. FYI, the next test version will positively identify the test variant in the log file.

4th flight (lots of simming today): LSGS Sion to EDNY Friedrichshafen. AutoFPS handled the approach perfectly. Landed with TLOD 200 which was just right. TLOD reduced gradually on descent. Disregard FPS 42 in the screenshot (MSFS was not in focus hence frame gen was inactive).

5th flight: touch n' go at Innsbruck (still in the Fenix). Mtn logic active as LOWI is above the terrain threshold (1500ft). TLOD gradually reduced from 800 at the start of the approach (AGL 9500ft). Landed with TLOD 200 (AGL 1900ft). Perfect approach, no stutters. 

IMO the latest update is working really well.

Last test for today, approach into LOWS Salzburg. CapFrameX capture around 8mins. TLOD gradually reduced from 800 at 6000ft to 200 at touchdown (1400ft). FPS stayed above target the whole time, virtually no stutters. This is a very good result! It would probably be a bit smoother overall with FPS locked, but that's nitpicking.

Last test for today, approach into LOWS Salzburg. CapFrameX capture around 8mins. TLOD gradually reduced from 800 at 6000ft to 200 at touchdown (1400ft). FPS stayed above target the whole time, virtually no stutters. This is a very good result! It would probably be a bit smoother overall with FPS locked, but that's nitpicking.

Thanks again for your extensive testing. I did all my testing in non-FG mode so I just tried it in FG mode and managed to replicate what you were seeing with major TLOD changes right on Alt TLOD Base the first time, but then I couldn't get it to fail again! I think it has something to do with FG and whether MSFS is currently the active window when you cross that threshold but I need to get it to fail again to find it. Good pickup and I will find it!

Happy hunting! During the CapFrameX capture I stayed in default cockpit view the whole time and didn't alt-tab to other windows. I might have alt-tabbed to other apps prior to this though, which could explain the TLOD jumping. The log should reveal this if FPS is suddenly halved.

I think I found it. When your TLOD Min Extra was going all the way up to TLOD Max, the transition altitude band calculates to be zero as there is no transition required but one of the formulas divides by that transition altitude band. Using FG helped find it as it allowed my system to iterate TLOd Min Extra up to TLOD Max quite easily on the ground, Divide by zero is a big no no in coding and I'm surprised it didn't thrown an exception and crash the app, but in any case this one escaped me and I have made it so that the transition altitude band can never be lower than one, which I hope fixes it.

Also, while looking at your log file on your google drive, I noticed I had forgotten to add back in the Extra TLOD Min allowable after the 50% reduction calculation in cases where you are at TLOD Max and still have plenty of FPS headroom, so I have now put that back in. This will allow TLOD Min Extra to go as high as TLOD Max for landing if conditions are adequate, similar to how you are able to get TLOD Min Extra on the ground to go that high under the right conditions as well. These fixes will be in the next test build.

I downloaded -test8 and then proceeded to forget to install it when I ran MSFS. I will test again and report back (now that I've installed -test8).

I don't know if the divide by zero bug will affect me, but I'll see how it goes.

That's OK. At the very least you prompted me to put the test variant number in the log file for future releases, which will help make sure it is clear exactly what test version someone is running in the future.

The divide by zero is an edge case issue normally only found with extreme settings like @Cpt_Piettuses, so you should be right for now. I've found another issue with the settling code causing it to never end in some cases that might be more serious for general users that I am hoping to find and fix shortly, so you may want to wait for the next test build likely to come out today in any case.
