If you do change a setting or AutoFPS doesn't behave like you are expecting it should with adjusting TLOD there is usually no need to restart AutoFPS completely rather, as @mmcmahsuggests, just switch to the alternate IFR/VFR flight mode, wait a second, then switch back again and all TLOD logic resets.

Although frames are happily locked at 30, I'm getting a lot of terrain "pop in", even on the flat lands.  Like the scenery keeps updating in tiny squares as I fly.  This goes for everywhere, not just mountains.  My internet is fine.

My last flight was in the same area, southern Spain, with the scenery enhancement mod.  I'm wondering if that is a conflict, even though I'm not using it now.  I have all the cache turned off. 
Any ideas?

I have seen this scenery pop in at TLOD lower than 200, with or without AutoFPS or the scenery enhancement mod, so it's probably just that.

Will do. I just want to make sure the changes I made to it are acceptable to most before I lock them in an update everything about it, including tooltips and the readme.

I may end up putting a reset button on the UI so that it is a bit more obvious how to reset things.

That's interesting. With a target FPS of 60 then 5% headroom is 3 FPS. If I set target to 60 and lock to 65 I might be fine. I'll test it on the next flight into Paro, Bhutan.

That'll be useful. 

Just did a flight from Northern India (which is fairly flat) into Kathmandu (altitude 4395ft). After landing (screenshot) TLOD was 480 with the mountain logic active. Everything worked well - didn't notice any issues. The new functions are great 🙂

It will improve it slightly for you, but not by much because it is still only an 8.3% headroom whereas unhinged you might get 100+ FPS in an area like Paro, ie  67+% headroom, so your TLOD Min Extra would calculate to be much higher. I did originally have this code iterating smaller TLOD steps until it ran out of headroom, as mentioned here, but I found it I could do it in a single step and be done with it. What this doesn't cater for unfortunately is those using an FPS cap close to their target FPS, like yourself, which has the effect of massively stunting this one off TLOD jump. I'm still thinking of how to get around this without adding yet another option to the UI. Any suggestions are welcome.

That’s all right, I’ll just run with fps unlocked for now as the new TLOD Min Extra functionality is too good 👍🏻

@Reset XPDR, lowered my target FPS and the TLOD Min+ (IFR) and/or TLOD increase on ground (VFR, TLOD Base at altitude 0) seem to be working kind of as desired.

The VFR option works very well, increasing and decreasing TLOD as necessary and not getting stuck at a higher TLOD. IFR TLOM Min+, though seems to consistently get stuck at a higher-than-Min value. In the NYC area (KJFK and KEWR), the FPS tends to live below my target. Every once in a while, the FRP will suddenly jump to be in my acceptable range (only lasts a second or two, before dipping back down).

When this happens, VFR TLOD on ground changes handle the fluctuations by increasing and then decreasing. The TLOD Min+, however, in IFR mode, tends to increase in those momentary FPS increases (seems like it reacts immediately to a spike in FPS) and then doesn't come back down unless I select VFR more to reset it.

Mtn logic doesn't care whether you have headroom to activate as it is just extending TLOD Max, so if you don't have the headroom it won't increase TLOD into that extended region anyway, it just means it can if it does have the headroom.

Just made a touch and go at LIPB Bolzano in the Fenix A320. Airport is at 787ft surrounded by the Alps. On final approach, TLOD was quite low (240) even though I had enough headroom. Also the Mtn logic went on and off as I was overflying valleys then mountains and so on. Looking at the approach chart for LOC DME RWY 01 and this makes sense. 

At the departure airport of Venice Lipz (sea level) I was getting a TLOD of 400 i.e. TLOD Min Extra was active. 

Questions:

  • Should the Mtn logic be active for longer - to avoid it going off too soon when overflying valleys? It will take quite a while for TLOD to increase again when the Mtn logic is active again
  • Did TLOD (with get TLOD Min Extra) get too low on descent even though I had enough headroom?

Note: this is not criticism, just observations. Just trying to understand the new logic.

EDIT: After Bolzano I did an approach into LSZH Zürich. Got the same on final approach i.e. TLOD+ 240 priority. So I guess this value is calculated at some point during the descent.

Hey I tried the new test version 6. VFR only in lower population areas (TJSJ to MDPP payware) and it worked well in non-expert mode. Still, a lot of stutters upon final landing though. Less the sim or app, and more likely my hardware. 

Though I would appreciate a little insight as to why that happens on approach/final and not necessarily on take off.
