This is one program I’ve used for years and when it eventually becomes unusable it will be a sad day.

I would have suggested they sell Aivlasoft to Obrx who can then merge it with Volanta or Navigraph or something.

Giving away the source code or selling it was against Swiss Law Urs told me.

It still works and should even if a reinstall is required. Obviously anything fundamentally different with MSFS24 and it won’t.

Only just came upon this news whilst reinstalling EFB2 for CTP 24E. If the possibility was open, I'm in a position to eat the hosting for them to keep an activation server going for the foreseeable future should the other donor have to tap out. I sit on more server resources than I'm likely to be able to get the use of anyway (and have done for quite some time) and I'd rather see them used to preserve a valuable resource like this than just sitting idle/

if the activation server was paid for a year why cant i activate mine as i had a corrupt install of windows and now i cant reactivate avilasoft

Do you have a backup of your good installation? If you have you should be able to copy all the Aivlasoft files back and then the Registry may need editing to convince the software you have a good installation.

It's hard to believe Urs would prevent users being able to reinstall the software. I do have his email address if you want to email him. Send me a PM.

Looking back to my discussions with Urs he wrote this last July...

The activation server will still be online until the end of 2025. As long as this server is running, you can reinstall the software at any time, unless technical specs will change (e.g. Windows, .NET-framework, connections to external servers). For a reinstall it is recommended to use the installers from the website.

I've just written to him asking about installing once the server is gone.

So it did work okay then? I’ve written to Urs requesting clarification. Not heard back yet.

I suspect those versions don’t require a validation check but for obvious reasons Urs hasn’t broadcast that fact.

New Guidance from the Aivlasoft EFB developer.

Last week I wrote to Urs asking for clarity on how to install the server and client programs once his server stops running beyond the end of 2025.

He advised both programs should be downloaded and saved from this location.

Having done that if you then wish to test an installation assuming his server is unavailable you should disconnect from the internet prior to running the installer with admin privileges.

That will emulate inaccessibility to the server. Urs advises the installation should work.

If it doesn’t please respond here and I’ll seek advice so that should any of us need to reinstall EFB beyond the end of the year we can do so successfully.

I haven't tried to emulate inaccessibility to the server, but I have compared the files downloaded from https://www.aivlasoft.com/#1643tab2 with the ones downloaded when I bought the product and they report equal.

My purchase have been done in April 2024.
