ActiveSky for P3Dv4/5 - runways are outdated

I'm running ASP3D for v5 with P3D v5.3HF2. When I use the program to check for weather at an airport it shows the runways in use at the bottom of the Conditions window.

For LPPT it's still showing 03/21 instead of 02/20. I raised a ticket with Hi-Fi and the reply was that ASP3D doesn't use the Navigraph data that I subscribe to despite it being a sub-folder inside my ASP3D installation.

But why not? And as it's clearly reading data for the airport where is it getting this info from? I've searched through the ASP3D structure but can't find any data relating to runways for airports.

Could others check LPPT please and report the runways in use especially if you have the MK Studios version with the updated runways.

It's hard to conceive such an excellent product has no feature to scan for updated airport data.

Having uploaded an LPPT-LPPD plan the briefing indicates 'Expect runway 02', same on the conditions tab.

What do you get if you start ASP3D and don't load a plan? Just enter LPPT and see what it says.

Runways in use 02

Check your Navdata path is installing to: \HiFi\ASP3D\NavigraphData\AS

Confirmed. Folder contains XMLProc folder + 10 files. Last updated 4/5/24 which matches last AIRAC upddate.

So it works for you but not for me. That suggests a path is wrong or missing in a config file. But my ASP3D.cfg file in Roaming has no path for Navigraph.

Thoughts?

Stephen, just to confirm the AIRAC cycle recognised by ASP3D on its main page is 2405. So it's installed the relevant data but not updated the runways. Are runways included in that data?

Ray--have you exported the ASP3D log file and had a look in there?

On my P3D installation it's finding the correct runways without a flight plan loaded, and that's with ASP3D running remote from a second PC.

I noticed that in the log there's a line: "Connector version 20.2.3.68 found for P3D v5.4 and later" -- recalling that you reverted from 5.4 back to 5.3, I wonder if you ever re-installed the ASP3D connector so as to have the proper connector for P3D 5.3.

Just checked now Bob. Entry states "Connector version 20.2.3.53 found for P3D v5.3.17 and prior".

Good thinking but it appears to be the correct version.

Is it worth uninstalling and reinstalling the connector?

I uninstalled the AS Connector and started ASP3D. It reported the connector needed installing so I went along with that. It installed and I checked LPPT. Still 03 instead of 02. Arrgghh!!

I don't suppose having an entry in the Registry for P3Dv4 being installed to satisfy my Vertx DA-62 config program is messing anything up is it? I do have a v4 and v5 Connector program in my ASP3D folder but I'm definitely seeing v5 has been updated.

I doubt that'll change anything.

On further examination, in P3D v5.4 LPPT has the correct runway designators in its updated stock scenery as well as in the MK Studios add-on and in the Navigraph data but the navigraph data in WPNAVAPT.txt is incorrect and still shows 02/20.  So ASP3D is apparently getting the runway data from either the stock scenery or the add-on.

EDDK, on the other hand, just recently had the runway designators on the parallels changed from 32L/R to 31L/R--it's incorrect in the AIRAC 2405 Navigraph data, but correctly depicted in their map products.  ASP3D with 2405 loaded still shows 32L/R, so it would appear that the database it's using is fixed and most likely based off the stock P3D airport data.

But that doesn't explain why @srcookesees 02/20 in his setup. It could be down to him running a later version - 5.4 compared to 5.3HF2 for me.

I suspect you're right that despite ASP3D having Navigraph data available it's not using it. Weird!

Ray, I can quick go and check. I am running v5.3HF2 the same as you. Let me see if I see the same problem as you.

Thanks Mark but I've fixed it. Bob was right in that ASP3D reads default afcads, not the Navigraph stuff.

I used ADE to identify the default afcad for LPPT. It's scenery\0502\scenery\APX45180.

Using AIE by Herve Sors I edited it and changed 03 to 02. The opposite end was also changed from 21 to 20.

Saved it and started ASP3D. Typed LPPT into the Conditions / Airport box and 02 came back. 😁

So if anyone wants to change default runway designations this is how.

Bob, just to clarify, 02/20 are the new designators. 03/21 are the old ones.
