Blackbird Simulations T6A ADV For MSFS

Hello there gents,
I am new to this forum and just downloaded msfs 2024.

Does anyone here know what the big differences between the bb T6 and the real T6A are? So what I mean by that is, are there some biggies not working yet for training? I once flew the T6 and want to use msfs for some procedure training and to get a little bit back into it.

Thanks in advance.

BlackBird Sims is the company formerly known as MilViz.

They built a T-6A II addon in Prepar3D for the USAF/USN/.mil to use in their IRL pilot training programs. So if you had multi-user/-domain flight sim based training in the T-6, there's a good chance it was the one built by MilViz (now BBS).

BBS/MilViz are stating that this re-build for MSFS is "an enhanced version of the simulation we developed for use by the USAF/ NATO in their training regime."

Obviously this version is built for MSFS rather than P3D, and it is beautifully rendered for MSFS, including what seems to be a very good flight model.

I've never even seen a T-6 II in person, but from reading through quite a few CNaTra / NavAir / NATOPS / AETCMans / etc, the addon appears to be highly accurate in systems and avionics as well as performance, including a custom coded GPS unit (thank god you can drop a .kmz in there in the addon!).

Because of the transition from v2020 to v2024, there are apparently just a couple minor issues remaining that some people are having. But BBS have been releasing a steady stream of updates for this addon (AFAIK, more than for any single other addon they produce! 🙂 ).

I also have the two that are available in X-Plane (and even the old non-MilViz one for FSX). The two in X-Plane fly well, but aren't simulated to the depth that BBS/MilViz have presented in theirs (which kinda makes sense, yeah...? 😉 ).

I've had the BBS since release day in v2020, love it, and would buy it again (a rare statement for me 😉 ).

p.s.: here's a link to their commercial site, you can see at least some of the work they've done for the .mil (now, if we could just get them to release the AT-6 Wolverine and the T-38C for MSFS 😁): https://milvizusa.com/aircraft/

  • Well, just fired up the computer and bought this , and I have to say it's cracking. I've been waiting to try this for a while as I though it would be good, and it's actually better than I expected.

I have it now and I'm inclined to agree. I think this one is a bit special. And yes, you do feel like you are in a real aircraft which is so rare in MSFS. I actually feel excited about firing up MSFS

It's great in 2024. A very overlooked add on in my opinion. Challenging to fly well and stunning modelling, textures and sound.

I think Blackbird/Milviz are pretty clear there's little chance of the T-38C but there might be a T-38A

OOF!!

Last I heard from them the Charlie was still a possibility (and it was shown at least flying in MSFS (tho maybe not the very complex avionics)).

Did that change in the last 9-ish months, or...? 😞

That said, the Alpha model is still a hoot - just takes more "maths" to get where you're going in a pure steam gauge bird!

Thanks for the detailed info.

I know the version for Xplane from FliteAdvantage. The GPS worked pretty good and we could enter custom waypoints as we used it in the actual aircraft.
But if that works also in the BB version (and what you say, it seems like that), that would be a good pick.

I didn´t read anything about the 38A or 38C, but I think it would make more sense for the company to focus on 38C as long as the USAF/NATO is using them for UPT.

Yep - I have the fliteadvantage, too. 👍

Seems like a really small team, and they struggle with updates and advanced avionics (or at least they did for years - I should check back and see how they're doing). I REALLY wanted their -B version with the advanced avionics, but again, they struggled with the HUD and avionics and I just couldn't go for another round at that price without a solid product. 😕

In terms of the BBS GPS, there's an entire User Guide right on the public product page (and a lite POH, too). You should be able to see if it has what you want.

Agree on the Talon-C, but they had to pull it from consumer sales just a couple months after releasing it (I'm speaking of the Prepar3D version).

They never gave a reason, but since it was an IRL .mil training system with "full" avionics & systems (they even simulated the IRL-simulated A2A & A2G modes), perhaps the .Mil didn't want that out in the wild...?

Could be like sharing classified info - if you don't have a clearance, nobody cares (much). But if you DO have a clearance, you're "confirming" classified info. Upon which they tend to frown...just a bit 😁

Maaaaybe once the Talon-C's hit the boneyard and the T-7's are the new hotness they'll lighten up a bit.

If not, well, we can always hit the F-15E, F-16C, or F/A-18C in DCSW for a  representative experience. Those add-ons systems are (from what I've heard) pretty good - considering they're downgraded for consumer sales all over the world.
