Blackbird Simulations T6A ADV For MSFS

Featured Replies

Thanks, I’ve been using it for a while in FS24, but as I’m not using the beta Version I have the issue with dark instruments so always fly around as the sun is going down.

Its probably my favourite aircraft in the sim.

  • Well, just fired up the computer and bought this , and I have to say it's cracking. I've been waiting to try this for a while as I though it would be good, and it's actually better than I expected.

I have it now and I'm inclined to agree. I think this one is a bit special. And yes, you do feel like you are in a real aircraft which is so rare in MSFS. I actually feel excited about firing up MSFS

It's great in 2024. A very overlooked add on in my opinion. Challenging to fly well and stunning modelling, textures and sound.

Does anyone know why this aircraft is posted as unavailable on the Blackbird website ? I’m curious if it’s a scenario like the T38C withdrawal or something else.

Hmm...

They made some veiled allusion to difficulties bringing it forward in one of their recent videos. No explanation at all, tho.

They previously said the production costs on this addon were high, and the revenue was low.

Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

It's still a great add-on, and I'd hate to see it go to MilViz/BlackBird purgatory as they done a few times in the past...

P.s.: still no sign of their excellent T-38C from P3D (though they did once show it flying in the sim).

The outlook there is even cloudier as they reported they don't know if they'll be able to release it for MSFS at all.

According to Discord it will be back but I don't know when.

I've just installed it for the first time in MSFS2024 as it is fully functional in v1.5.0 and I'm loving it again. You can get the latest version on Discord or their forums if you bought it from them before.

No details as to why...?

Hi all - I am having a very very slow going trying to figure out all the unnecessary LVARS Blackbird uses on the T6A Texan II.

Heading Sync a good example - none of the standard event bindings work.  The LVAR I see in Developer Mode - 'SS_IE_BASE_T6A_EFIS_HDG" does not work in any of the combinations I used.

Heading Sync is AP basic.  Why is this MADE so hard?

Anyone know if this works in 2024?  I found some awesome paints but I don't own it yet.

Works great.  Over at BB discord they have a link for customers to V1.5BETA.

Give it a whirl, great aircraft.

Ok I'm looking at the manuals right now.  51 pages for the GPS!  Wowzers lol!  That's a good sign!

It's really nice mate.  Very well modelled and the sound set is 5 star.

It has the best propeller disk I’ve seen in a simulation. It actually looks like a prop disc does in flight , rather than looking like a simulation of a video of a prop disk.

The sounds as mentioned are great, it’s a very immersive aircraft in VR, and a great instrument platform.

All in all my favourite aircraft in the sim so far.

jon, comming from DCS when it comes to WW2 / post-WW2 aircraft, and it's amazing flight dynamics, how does this T6 perform, "feel of flight" wise, in your view?

Approved?

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

I believe it had their ADV external flight model so it’s very good, it probably won’t beat DCS , but it certainly feels very solid and pleasant to fly.

These are my kinda aircraft.  Fast singles!

I found a beech demonstrator N3000B paint that I really want to use.

Yes, and they just patched it (again) about 2 weeks ago. 👍

It's a deceptively "simple" aircraft to operate, and really a worthwhile purchase. Makes for a great high speed touring aircraft - fast turboprop performance combined with a "high" G-tolerant airframe for when you want to canyon carve.

And don't let yourself get behind the power curve around the pattern on this one - it'll bite if it's not flown on the numbers 🙂

It's very good for MSFS and I enjoy it. Would buy again due to the sophistication of the addon. And it certainly performs "on the numbers" for the most part.

For pure flying "feel", I do somewhat prefer the AoA version in X-Plane. But that one isn't as deeply simulated as the MilViz/BBS one in MSFS (nor is it nearly as gorgeously rendered).

Compared to warbirds in DCS World...? My fave flight model is actually the Yak-52 ("not a warbird", i know), but DANG is it fun to fly!

Probably Spitfire after that for pure joy to fly, and so on down the line.

In re the BBS Texan II, I derive the most satisfaction from trying to fly it "by the book". I.e., It seems like the closer i'm flying to the NATOPs & CNATRA procedures, the better I feel. Decidedly unscientific, but I do choose to fly that airframe in MSFS quite frequently 🙂
