August 24, 20241 yr I use MSFS most days, and things have been pretty stable for a long time. Thursday night was fine. Then all of a sudden, on Friday night, massive stutters and freezes. It doesn't seem to be a FPS issue, since AutoFPS shows that my frame rates are normal (usually in the 40s on my old system). The freezes can be a half-second long, sometimes longer. And they are happening all the time, constantly, whether on an airport or at FL430. And it happens before launching a flight, too--the world map on the launch screen also stutters and freezes when I move it or zoom. Anyone else seeing this? Or have seen it in the past? I think it might be something on Microsoft's side, since other apps are working normally, i.e. it's not an issue with lack of computer resources. And I can stream multiple videos fluidly just like always, so I don't think it's an issue with my home internet. I was hoping it was just a momentary issue, but today (Saturday) is just like last night, still stuttering and freezing. Any ideas?   Edited August 24, 20241 yr by prolixindec
August 24, 20241 yr No idea where you're based, but I'm in the UK and I find that the servers are a bit flakey most weekends here. Have only used the sim briefly today but yep, it's not behaving as well as during the week. Like you, no problems with other resources, plenty of capacity over the net (Gb fibre connection). I'm kinda used to this now. Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
August 24, 20241 yr Author Update, I used the in-sim button to delete the rolling cache file and it's back to behaving nicely. Could be a coincidence, of course.Â

Any ideas?   A definite slowdown yesterday at 1900z during a KJFK-KMSP flight. Not nearly as severe as your situation but a definite slowdown observed primarily in the altitude updates in the PFD and the smoothness of movement of the ND.  zachlog
August 24, 20241 yr I am experiencing a similar issue since today only but I have no rolling cache active. Â Every couple seconds there is a massive stutter, always with the same gap between stutters. I made a short video, does anyone have an idea what might cause this? Â CPU/FPS stutters (youtube.com)

My "rolling cache freezes" were more random, more frequent, and lasted longer. (I have to put "rolling cache freezes" in quotes, because I don't know that that's really what the problem was.) I've never seen regular freezes like in your video, but I've seen it mentioned on the forum somewhere... it will be hard to find though, because there are a billion old posts mentioning stutters and freezes.

August 25, 20241 yr I never see regular stutters in MSFS, but I noticed a regular (maybe 3 seconds) stutter just now during an FSiPanel landing test at EGBE Coventry. I have never seen anything like that before, but I am not sure if it is MSFS related or something else. I will need to conduct more tests. August 25, 20241 yr I did a clean install on the newest Nvidia Geforce drivers, so far it seems to have fixed the problem
August 25, 20241 yr Hi, I can confirm the same. Started yesterday evening - massive stutters on approach to ENGM. Today stutters the whole flight - although it seems worst during take-off and approach. I also have massive delays in the flight planner when zooming in - so it looks like maybe a texture / server problem? I have an AMD GPU - so it cannot be a Nvidia driver thing.... GG
August 25, 20241 yr I thought it was just me. Uploaded the World XVIII update last night and then went to fly and performance was terrible over Germany. Went to Vancouver, always good FPS, and still got bad stutters. I thought it was the world update. I guess not. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.Â
August 25, 20241 yr And now it is back again, something is broken in the sim the last 2 days.  It is getting worse extreme stutter (youtube.com) Edited August 25, 20241 yr by onlythejker
