AIGTC cause stutters

Featured Replies

Running quite a high end config

RTX4090 I9-14900 and 64gb of VRAM.

When I run simultaneously complex addon (aircraft and scenery) and AIGTC (ai traffic injector 60 to 100%) I start to get stutters every second and a half or so.

I run MSFS at ultra except terrain LOD.

anything I should change in msfs settings or nvidia control panel to address this ? (Except running AIGTC at 10%)

i assume you meant 64gb of DRAM.. what GPU do you have? gonna go out on a limb and guess you have a 4090 lol, but in the off chance you have a lesser GPU with 12gb or even 16gb of vram, you might be running up against your VRAM capacity especially at native 4k (no DLSS). when this happens your GPU has no choice but to swap stuff into DRAM which is awful compared to VRAM and will create stuttering

also, you'll see a lot of people tell you they can run 80+ AI + complex aircraft + scenery + GSX on far lesser CPUs than what you have without any FPS or stutter problems whatsoever. the fact is that the AI traffic 'engine' within MSFS is **extremely** inefficient in terms of CPU usage and even 10 to 15 active AI creates a huge CPU spike on core 0. everyone's got a personal threshold for what they consider acceptable framerate and fluidity/smooth framepacing so what one person claims is peachy keen might be like nails on chalkboard to me or you

I can't run AIG traffic at 100% into major hubs without stutters. Tested at Heathrow recently, and AIG ate 30-40 FPS at 100% (250 aircraft). Not sure if current hardware can deal with this amount of traffic. Perhaps with lossless scaling, but even with that, I haven't been able to get rid of the stutters.

Those people might have used liquid nitrogen and overclocked their CPU to 6Ghz on all cores...

most AI performance issues are due to CPU usage. With the multithreading improvements coming with 2024, we might see some performance increase for those with MT CPUs.

Have you updated the microcode for your CPU using the BIOS /UEFI update from your motherboard manufacturer since July 2024? If not, you might be over-cooking your CPU- there is a well documented issue and it can permanently damage your CPU if not addressed with the update.

Traffic injection is outwards of 100nm around your aircraft..  You are going to have to come up with a better pc to run traffic at anywhere near 100% at most large airports. Yes, I understand your current rig is quite good, but it will need more.
