September 6, 20241 yr I bought scenery for Adisutjipto International airport made by BDOAviation. I bought it because it was on sale, and it said it was for P3D v5 (I assumed it would work in v5.4). The problem I am having is the scenery uses the new airport code WAHH but in P3D v5.4 the old code (WIJJ) and default airport is still available. How do I get rid of the default airport and the old WIIJ airport code?
September 6, 20241 yr Moderator @Joseph29, at the Scenario screen just type WAHH and the new airport will be loaded. It’s likely it has a higher priority than the default so you shouldn’t have a problem. The only way to remove the default airport is to disable the relevant BGL but that will also remove several other airports. You can identify which using ADE. Ray (Cheshire, England). How did you install it? Addon or entry in scenery.cfg? The author should have provided an exclude file to prevent the default showing. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 6, 20241 yr Author I contacted them already but haven't heard back yet. No install instructions, just the exe file. When I ran the exe file it didn't find my P3D v5.4 folder (that is a clue that it would n't work in v5.4) so I installed it to a dummy folder and then moved it to my v5.4. (It was just the effect files and the main scenery folder and texture folder for the airport)
September 6, 20241 yr Moderator @Joseph29, that’s not very good for commercial software. It’s not even reading the Registry. 🤨 The website says compatible with “P3D” so it should be okay. They’re 6-7 hours ahead of UT so they are still awake. How did you add the entry so P3D picks it up? Scenery Library? Is it top of the list when viewed in P3D scenery library? September 6, 20241 yr I recently went through the process of rejigging all my Indonesia sceneries and flightplans (I'm building out a retro database), and this was one of the biggest hurdles. Be mindful that this also impacts AI flightplans; so if you want to get more traffic into WAHH, you'll not only have to use some older flightplans - as most flights have moved over to the new airport - but you'll also have to re-code them from WIJJ to WAHH too (maybe there's a sweet spot of flightplans around 2018-2019 where the old airport was still in use but they were using the newest code..?). As for getting the ADE/scenery/sim to play nice, I believe there are three different approaches to this. Ultimately, you'll want to pick a single code and run with it across all your data, but that does mean identifying all the instances of that code and making updates. All of these options require the use of ADE, BGL2XML, your P3D SDK, and AIFP; so I'd start by first making sure you have all those installed. 1. Re-code the default airport from WIJJ to WAHH (this would allow P3D to "recognize" the duplicate codes and prevent overlapping scenery). 2. Re-code BDO's scenery from WAHH to WIJJ (this would allow old AI flightplans to more immediately work with your scenery) 3. Isolate & remove the default airport entirely, leaving only your third-party scenery (you would still need to make adjustments to AI FPs to make sure they use the right code). I ultimately did Option 3 above but realized that Option 1 might have been a slightly easier alternative. Options 1 and 3 require older AI flightplans to be updated while Option 2 does not. Option 2, however, is more challenging where old airports are closed completely (and subsequently removed from charting & flightplanning databases like Simbrief). I'll put together a little job-aid and circle back here. September 6, 20241 yr Was going to try and help on removing default airports, but there seems to be some confusion about the names and ICAO codes. In P3DV5/V6 WAHH (Adisutjipto) is located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. IN FSX, WAHH use to be WARJ, not WIJJ. Also in P3DV5/V6, WIJJ (Sultan Thaha) is current an airport located Jambi, Indonesia and use to be called WIPA is FSX. I also checked in MSFS and X-Plane and WAHH is a current airport in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and WIJJ is a current airport in Jambi, Indonesia. With these airports in two different locations WIJJ should not be showing through at WAHH, so it's safe to assume that the default WAHH scenery is showing up in the new WAHH scenery. You would have to removed the default WAHH instead of WIJJ scenery. There are ways to remove and rename individual default airports by editing default files. These files are copyrighted by LM but I'm not sure what AVSIM's rules are on providing instructions to change copyrighted files. I've changed many of these files for my own use, but will not redistributed them. John C. September 6, 20241 yr How to update default airports to new codes: 1. Use ADE to identify the default APX file - and its file path - containing the old airport: https://i.imgur.com/MxcmwtW.png * WARJ/WIJJ/WAHH is one of the Indonesian airports that's been re-coded multiple times 2. Copy the APX file from the folder/path displayed in ADE and paste into your own working folder, open with BGL2XML https://i.imgur.com/RYQ4cce.png 3. Validate the input path, and set the output path for BGL2XML, hit "Go" to decompile. https://i.imgur.com/XDk7dnI.png 4. Open the new XML file in an editor, find & replace all instances of the old airport code with the new one https://i.imgur.com/E5vH7fS.png 5. Save your changes as a new XML file, with a naming convention to help distinguish the edit https://i.imgur.com/vTNbBPw.png 6. Compile your new XML file into bgl with BGLComp from your P3D SDK https://i.imgur.com/0shF1st.png 7. Clean up the filename if necessary, copy & paste back into the original P3D folder where the default file lives. Archive/disable the old file. https://i.imgur.com/niy5EYG.png EDIT: If anyone's interested, here's my own working/partial list of impacted Indonesian airports. I'm sure I've missed some(/many), but this is at least a good start: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tj7utdbild65taopv2ws2/Indonesian-Airport-ICAO-Code-Updates.txt Edited September 6, 20241 yr by drobinho Windows 10 64bit | Prepar3D v4.5 HF3 | MSI Z490 Gaming Carbon WiFi | i9-10900k + ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 | 12GB EVGA RTX 3080ti FTW3 | 64GB Corsair LPX DDR4 3600 | 2x 2TB SSD Samsung 860 EVO | 1x 1TB M.2 Samsung 970 EVO | 3x Thermaltake PWM Fans | EVGA SuperNOVA 220 80+ Gold 850W | InWin 303C
September 7, 20241 yr Author Ok I checked this out again and I have a little update. Before the scenery was installed there was no default Adisutjipto airport. After installing the scenery I now have the new scenery (WAHH) plus a default scenery of the old airport (WARJ) with default buildings. (I was mistaken with the old airport code) There was a file in there named WARJ_BUANG.bgl and I deleted it, but default buildings are still in the new scenery. I will try some of these tips to get rid of the buildings, but I am very novice when it comes to that stuff.

Checked on Google Earth and WIJJ is even on another island. WAHH is on Java and WIJJ on West Sumatra. 5 hours ago, Joseph29 said: Ok I checked this out again and I have a little update. Disabling WARJ_BUANG.bgl is correct, I did that too because of the com frequencies in this file. I also reworked the afcad of WAHH 3 years ago, and put the com frequencies into the modified afcad. September 7, 20241 yr I also changed the ICAO to WARJ now. Therefore was this WARJ_BUANG.bgl file in the scenery. Kind of double assignment, I guess. The file is up, ready for download. September 7, 20241 yr Author Thank you very much! I will try the new files on Sunday and let you know. All of my AI has the WAHH for this airport, I wonder if my AI will still show up at the scenery since the coordinates would be the same for WAHH and WARJ. I am going to try that and see. One question, the scenery has files for adjusting the altitude for both WAHH and WARJ. I just need the WAHH one correct? PS: I never did hear back from the developer when I emailed them about this problem. I guess they are not active anymore.
