Xbox CEO Teased "Cool" MSFS2024 Content for Japan

Featured Replies

Today Phil Spencer (Microsoft Gaming CEO) had his traditional speech at Tokyo Game Show (video below for those who care to watch), and he had a sizable segment about MSFS 2024, reminding that the first World Update presented at TGS2020 was Japan. Then he said that the MSFS team has "more cool content planned for Japanese players in the future."

I certainly would appreciate greatly a refresh of the World Update Japan since it's pretty old by now. Especially Tokyo's photogrammetry is from 2014 (ask me how I know lol).

Incidentally, he also mentioned that the Japanese audience for MSFS has "grown significantly" since.

Anime T-shirts...

Nah, despite being a bit of a weeb, I'll stick with hoping for a new world update. 😂

I was going to recommend Ken Ochiai’s scenery but then I went to the official forums and saw you already started a thread about them.

It certainly helps, but it'd still be nice for the photogrammetry of such a major city not to be from prehistory 😂

In many European cities that might seem a strange thing to say, but given the pace of (especially commercial) real estate development in Tokyo, it really makes a difference. That’s one of the reasons I really like Ken’s sceneries, he updates Tokyo so regularly, and even includes models of big buildings at different stages of their construction.

Would be cool the option for to have a Shin-chan avatar of pilot.

Yeah, I had a laugh during my preview of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The hotel I'm sitting at right now as I write is actually indicated as a landmark with its own pin (it's a pretty big tower), but the tower itself isn't there physically, there's just an empty lot, since it was built in 2018. Apparently, the landmark list is updated, but the photogrammetry isn't.

When I noticed, Seb was passing behind me as he did the rounds, and I was like "There's a bit of a discrepancy here.." 😂

SO many new skyscrapers have been built in Tokyo since 2014.

Yeah, IIRC the landmarks tags are imported from Bing.

Nah it's in Ryogoku. But yeah, TONS of stuff is missing in Shibuya, of course.

Nice. I live too far away to get there regularly, but I try to get to Ryōgoku every now and again for the Mongolian food, and to eat next to sumo wrestlers.

Let me know next time you’re in town. I’ll introduce you to the delights of Kamata (NB There are not many delights, but it’s near the airport and the gyoza is out of this world)
