I'm not getting that, but I'm getting the dreaded "settings reset", which I've never had before. I hear this can be a side effect of not being able to sign into the account?

(Is this something I can expect to fix itself, or will I have to redo all my settings? I did click past the first accessibility settings screen - hopefully that doesn't mean I've wiped the slate?)

I'm now getting the "Insert Game Disc" message...

The whole POINT of the ubiquitous 'cloud' these days and being forced to use it is BECAUSE of the safe storage /backup of your data. If it's not being backed up then what the heck are they doing with it?

Surely it must be possible to log in to your Xbox account to view /download /restore your data OUTSIDE the simulator? Gamers have been using the service for years and I've heard of no data loss issue before. And it IS data loss, it has to be backed up somewhere?

Always keep up to date your xbox app and xbox gaming services. Before firing MSFS you can check for updates Microsoft Store->Library->Get Updates

This !

Then launch your XBox app to check if it displays any orange warning banner on top. If it does, just force a logout then login again to your XBox account, and then you should be able to launch the sim with no further issues.

I actually tried all the above without success... Waiting four hours was what eventually cured it..

The error message is ambiguous at best, and the Youtube videos that promise a fix make you check every setting on your PC which does not lead anywhere..

The XBox Live web site assumes that you are running an XBox and does not really cater to PC users..

It is frustrating that there is not a clearer way to troubleshoot this situation.. even finding the specific error message code on the XBox Live site which has a list of two pages of possible error messages in no particular order is a challenge.. 🤫

Here is my understanding: There are two kinds of issues.

1- The XBox Live network is broken. Happens quite rarely but happens. In that case, waiting is indeed the only cure.

2- Your XBox Live account is not connected properly to you local computer. In that case, and provided the Xbox related apps/services are up to date on your computer, the disconnect/reconnect from the Xbox application is the cure.

I'm using the Steam version of MSFS. I don't need the XBox app in theory, but I always launch it prior to launching MSFS from Steam. This helps me to detect any issues with the connection to my XBox account. When this happens and the disconnect/reconnect doesn't solve it, then I know I just shouldn't launch the sim, because the servers are out of order anyways.
