Angel Fire to Albuquerque

Featured Replies

I'm taking the Cirrus from AXX to Double Eagle (AEG - just outside of ABQ) this afternoon.  It's pretty much VFR but there is forecast for some serious haze in the area so we'll file IFR and plan for 16k ft

Routing (I like to show the VFR sectional for reference), we'll climb out on the obstacle departure procedure and then proceed south towards Fort Union VORTAC (and coincidentally above the town of Las Vegas, NM hehe)

A lovely view from the FBO

And a nice day to fly!

Flight will take about 1 hr 30 min

Untitled-3 Untitled-4

KAXX sits at a very high elevation of 8,380 ft - but is no issue for the turbocharged Cirrus G6 - I pitch for 110 kias as a cruise climb

Stunning vistas as we climb out of Angel Fire

Passing over FTI / KLVS

Truing about 200 ktas at FL160

The haze is well below us but you never really know what you'll find when flying

Passing Santa Fe KSAF

Untitled-13

Leaving the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the distance (the furthest south of the Rocky Mountain Range - some of the peaks are over 14k in CO, and 13k in NM)

Our stunning interior (and exterior) decorator is none other than TimHH!

Sandia Mountains to our east as tower clears us to land on runway 22 at KAEG.

I love these hangars (there's also a blue one)

Views of the ramps

And a lovely sunset from the "drone"

Really at the top of your game here, Ryan. Aircraft (inside and out), scenery, weather, commentary, and lovely destination airport...very impressive. Could swear I was viewing real life. 🙂

Stunning pictures from your trip, Ryan.

When living in Austin (Texas) for a few years, I was fully aware of the state of New Mexico that borders to the west...but the distances were so huge..., I never got to explore that (very interesting) state much. Did drive once from Austin to El Paso, so came close to New Mexico though...🙂...

This a/c shines, Ryan. Great job by Tim, as usual. Love those "black" wheel pants, look like cowboy boots...🙂...

Great trip, Ryan and I agree with you, that livery is superb!

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

Very nice Ryan, great pictorial and paint!

Yeah - if only my shots would show up as they used too... I'm so bummed that they are pretty tiny.  Thanks as always for your comments my "loyal" John F haha!

I've never been to NM or TX... maybe someday.  Yes the paint is incredible, and same with his exquisite interiors...

Superb pictures! I had always hoped for a good SR22. Impressive that this is a default aircraft.
