AAO and MSFS2024

Check if it really is the latest. The package had to be rewritten completely, as MSFS2024 is more limited than MSFS2020 was.

And make sure that you are running AAO "As administrator", same as before. You did install the separate 2024 variant for AAO, right? There is no "update" from AAO 2020 to 2024, they are two separate programs living on your computer in parallel.

For the record: none of the (L:.., String) Variables is coming from the sim, they don't exist in the "real world". They are all AAO internal and in this case coming from the zzz package.

On top of the great software, crazy fast help. Really appreciate it. I'm almost certain I'm doing all of the above, but let me go verify in a bit when I get a work break. But just to answer off the top of my head:

1. yes separate install of AAO. I actually uninstalled the 2020 version.
2. I think I have the latest wtg1000, I manually replaced it twice. But I do make mistakes, will verify the download. ZZ.
3. Ah! That's good to know, I figured the ones like (L:AaoVoiceRecEngine, String) or the one for file path were AAO ones, but wasn't sure on the SOFTKEYs.

Question, am I correct to assume when I do get this working, using the Observe Variables in Simulator tool in AAO to peek the (L:G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY_n, String) variable/s should return a string and not a null []?  (assuming the softkey is displaying text within game) I'd rather cut out the Streamdeck plugin as a point of failure and test directly in AAO.

Yes. You can even select them from the list (you don't have to scan for them, AAO internal LVars are always visible directly)

It would be interesting to know if the AAO Ingame Panel is working for you. All these assets communicate with AAO using its WebAPI, and that would be the quickest test to make sure that there is nothing wrong with that.

Ah! I uninstalled and deleted everything related to LorbyAAO, in my Documents, the WASM folder deep inside the appdata, the wtg1000 files in the community folder, all of it. New downloads, new install. Same exact behavior.

So I try the in game panel, it works, I took off in the 172 and had active gauges in the sim fip window, but still no softkey strings. 🤯

Did some brainstorming, realized OneDrive has been syncing my Windows user folder, including AppData... hmm

Turned that off, returned my profile to a non-sync'd, normal file path living at C:\Users (instead of C:\User\One - Drive\ yada... Reinstalled everything again. Boot MSFS2024 and it's not showing the correct community plugins anymore. In the profile sync change I guess it lost my community path (but not my usercfg.opt ?? ) Ok. So instead of changing it I just left it as C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages\Community

Placed the wtg1000 folder in there. TADA!

Sorry for the ramble of a reply, but we're good to go. I'm not convinced the one-drive thing was the issue. I think MSFS2024 is having issues (based on other threads at the MS forums) with the community folder when you change its location. There are reports of it doing weird read-once behavior. But maybe it was the one-drive thing... who knows.

I know when I had in game FIP working but no String, I only had the PFD SOFTKEYS available in the variables list. I now have way more, including the MFD options that were completely missing. Odd stuff!

Greetings,

"Read HVars and BVars from sim files" under the "Scripting" menu is grayed out.  How is that enabled?

This is not available for MSFS 2024. It is not relevant anymore, and cannot work for all the streamed and/or encrypted assets anyway.

FS24 aircraft make extensive use of Input Events. And if an IE won't do the job directly, it can usually also be written as a BVar.

Hello There.. I posted this elsewhere, got 80 views but not one response.. hoping to get something on this thread..

Hello All.

Using the software listed below, with a generic Autopilot profile in use, I cannot get the LCD panel on the Streamdeck Plus I use to work at all, the LCD panel is BLANK on mine, but the other Autopilot buttons etc are there… The rotary knobs have nothing to control… The same Streamdeck Plus using the same plugins and profiles listed below WORKS FINE on another PC!

here’s what I’m using, I think I must be missing something with Lorbys A&O:

Streamdeck Plus software vs. 6.8.0 - Firmware 2.0.3.4

Lorbys A&Ohs vs 4.51 b09 for MSFS 2024

In 2024 Community Folder:
Mobiflight
lorbysi-content-fippanel
lorbysi-content-hooks
zzz-lorbysi-aao-wtg1000

SD Plugins:
Flight Tracker vs 0.52
AxisandOhs Integration vs 38.01
PilotsDeck vs 0.8.6.0

Profile:
Plus Standard Avionics from Flightsim.TO

Driving me crazy, works fine on one PC but NOT on another!! I have changed USB ports, used a powered USB hub, added removed software and plugins etc…

ANY HELP OR GUIDANCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

UPDATE:  On the offending PC, I did remove FSUIPC and it looked like it started to work..could FSUIPC be the complete cause of this?  Thanks.

Hard to tell. It is not known for doing that.

My personal opiniton is, that in general, it is not a good idea to use multiple software tools that essentially do the same thing. Cross compatibility issues are to be expected. You have three StreamDeck plugins running in parallel and three middleware products (=SimConnect clients) running in MSFS. That is not something that I would recommend. That being said, the only real problem that came up in the past was between AAO and Mobiflight, and it only affected MIDI devices.

That's an oddly specific fault, that to me makes no technological sense. I can't see how that could be possibly be caused by any of the tools you are listing. But, we are talking about computers, so nothing is impossible.

Thanks for the quick response!   What should I take out of that list above that could possibly confict?   I'll remove them to see if it helps..  Note I "may" have it solved after I removed FSUIPC, the LCD panel came back, but I would really like to streamline this setup to make sure it works solidly with A+OHS.  Thanks again..

Sorry, I don't have any experience with that. Obviously, I'm only using AxisAndOhs, nothing else. I have no reason to install any of the others.

I see.  Can I ask are Mobiflight and FlightTracker required for A+OHS?

No. Why would they be? Incidentally, why are you running FSUIPC when you have AAO? Do you have another addon that requires it?

That being said, I've seen some StreamDeck profiles that are mixing up actions from different plugins for some reason. But the most common profiles are usually "clean" and use only the AAO plugin.

Got it thanks.   The original issue was that I had 2 identical PC's in different locations, all running exactly the same config as shown above.  Even the same version of FSUIPC.. one worked perfectly the other had no LCD screen... just bizarre to me.    I tried everything and had no success until as a last resort I removed FSUIPC on the bad one, and it seemed to fix things.
