Meta cancels a user's headset.

Featured Replies

When he first registered his Q3 headset, he gave a false date of birth in order to protect his privacy. Much like Avsim users who use a handle instead of their legal name in this forum. When the guy needed to re-register for some reason, META asked his d.o.b. which he had forgotten. Now he has not been able to use his Quest 3 for the last 25 days. This problem was posted under this youtube video by imacmll an hour ago in the comments on Youtube under this video which also appeared about an hour ago. The video doesn't discuss this, it's in the comments.

I admit to having limited sympathy. If you make up data when creating an account, then write down or remember the data. It's the individual's choice and responsibility.

I only give ground if its a kid, probably making up random nonsense or trying to be funny.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

If I go into a store to buy anything and they ask me my date of birth I tell them to F-off! I had to make a decision between a Quest3 and a PimaxCL. I chose the CL but I can tell you that having to have a facebook account was a significant consideration in rejecting the Quest3. So again Zuckerburg or whatever your name is and Facebook, F-off!

I have plenty of sympathy, I would have probably done the same.

Facebook is a spinoff from a DARPA program. Their endgame was to create a dossier on everybody. I am sure everybody's PC and your phones have plenty of tracking data to fill in the gaps.

Why are you misquoting him then?

New never mentions giving a false date of birth, he never mentions anything about needing to re register.

Why are you making that up?

A cautionary tale for current and prospective Meta Quest VR headset owners:

I'm on day 25 of Meta holding my Quest headsets hostage. I've been using Oculus/Quest devices from the day they started making them (10 years ago?), and I have not been required to give my date of birth to Meta in all this time. But they recently demanded my DOB under threat of disabling my Quests, and they made good on that threat 25 days ago.

Meta can metaphorically brick your headsets, any time they want, and for any reason they want, and you will have no defense against it.

Conclusion: Think carefully before you BUY anything from Meta; The thing you BUY will not be yours.

Clearly you are, no mention of "re-register" either, so I ask again, why are you misquoting him to spread false information? What is your purpose with this?

Edit: oh I see now you've edited your post to hide what you initially misquoted but you've still got it incorrect 🤣 good grief

Marc G: You can perhaps find someone else stupid enough to come and joust with you. It will not, sir, be me. I try to maintain higher standards of correspondence than engage in juvenile squabbles.

You lied, he never gave a false DOB, he never said that it anything about re registering, the evidence is right there in front of you, keep digging that hole as clearly you're in the wrong here for saying things that were never said....

I am truly amazed at how delusional you're acting, but ok if you think it's fine to completely misquote people then you do you, very weird.

For the record, MarcG is right. He didn't provide a false birthday. He did not provide his birthday because he didn't want to, and the company then decided that if you won't tell them when you were born, you can't use the hardware you paid for.

That said, he could have solved this by actually providing a false birthday. I do this routinely for organizations I don't trust. There are plenty of cocktail recipe websites that think I was born on the day of the first Wright Flyer launch. 😉

Bitwarden has a notes feature for each entry in which you can document the lies you tell them for later recall.
