MS2024 Can't start a plane Cold and Dark

Featured Replies

Hi,

When I start on a runway, the engine is going ok, but if I begin on a parked site of an airport, the engine does not start (no mater what I do!).

That is completely new for me, because I always started cold and dark in MS2020.

Any help?

I fear to post this worried that it may be interpreted as insulting but it really isn't meant to be. I couldn't get the Cessna 172 started from C&D or the VisionJet till I realised that during my walk around I didn't take the covers off the engines. (2 red covers on front of 172 and front back of jet on top of VisionJet). What you would get is the engine cranking but not lighting off. Take the covers off and all should be good. Just remember to remove the chocks or you'll still be going nowhere.

Hi, OldWiseMan!

Thank you!

I thought something like this was happening, but I didn't know exactly what.

In MS2020 I was always directly seated in the pilot seat. And now I simply open the door without seen anything of the exterior!

Now, next time I'll walk around!

Greetings!

Hi, again,

Two questions:

1) How to move around the aircraft to uncover the pitot, etc. I don't know how!

2) Is there any way to skip the aircraft outside inspection?

Much appreciated

Yeah, you need to externally inspect the plane and remove all plugs, covers, blocks and tags.

Yes, but how to move? For instance, I can't reach the pitot cover and my mouse do nothing!

LOL, guess you're not a gamer 🙂  We had this word not allowed in X-Plane with the Challenger, on keyboard the WASD keys move you, C crouches you..... Someone thought this was supposed to make things more "immersive", if you ever flew IRL you'd know that every flight begins with this external activity. Problem is, this isn't RL, and after you've done it a few times it's just a nuissance, at least IMHO, you just want to simulate the flying, not the inspection.  I've not yet had enough time actually IN this silly sim to know if this can be disabled... I hope so.

I agree. I would like the option to start cold and dark from the cockpit.

Thank you, jfv!

I’m not alone, I suppose. I like to start cold and dark and then roll to the runway. And the same after landing. But I consider a nuisance to do the inspection. I’ve been trying this afternoon, but I found it difficult, With the mouse I can open the door and one o two things more, but I can’t uncover the pitot and the engine can’t start! I wonder if somebody can do a mod to make things easier… Anyway, I can fly starting on the runway, but is not as “elegant” for me!

Regards

I'm trying to do a cold and dark in the Caravan and the same problem. Just can't seem to remove the pitot and engine covers. i hope someone finds a solution to this.

BTW, nice to have the amphibian Caravan back in the sim.
