November 26, 20241 yr In our SIM, propliners are as much fascinating as jetliners. Many of us, throughout our times in this hobby, have come to love the classics such as the Constellations, Viscounts, DC-6s etc. On a smaller scale, at the regional transport level, twin-props such as Fokker F27 Friendship, HS 748, DHC/Bombardier Dash 8, ATR, and Saab 340 have also become our favorites. In particular, I have always found fascinating...the smaller "4-engined" quad-prop (regional) airliners of past times...just a couple of such notable examples been Lockheed L-188 Electra and De Havilland Dash 7, which we might recall from our past SIMs. So, I was intrigued to find today a (curious) quad-prop airliner in the MSFS2024 Airplanes menu, about which I didn't know anything before. It's the Heart Aerospace ES-30 Hybrid (electric) airplane. The company is an ambitious and pioneering Private Aircraft Manufacturing venture led by its two founders in Sweden. It has already garnered 100+ advanced orders and the backing of partners and investors of the likes of United Airlines, Air Canada, Logan Air, and Saab. Their company slogan is "...Electrifying regional air travel"... Now, "hybrid" concept in automobiles has been around since quite some time. Just yesterday, I was watching a holiday/Christmas (romance) movie...🙂...on Amazon Prime Video (with limited advertisement interruptions...), and I caught an ad for a (2025) Hybrid Volvo XC90, with an upper-end sticker price reaching $80,000...🙂...Oh well...it surely looked nice. I read a bit about the XC90, "...speaking of hybrids, there is the T8 hybrid model of XC90 capable of pumping out 455 horsepower...". When I was recently visiting Disney World (Orlando), my host family had just acquired a hybrid Toyota SUV, that they offered me to use for travelling between the various Disney locations. It was a nice mode of conveyance, and also saved me the expenses of a rental car...🙂...Anyway, have you heard about any hybrid airplane i.e., its engines being powered by an electric-hybrid system...? I had not. The remarkable ES-30, you see below, is one such example (maybe the first airplane of this type). In the recent news, I also caught this bit, "Heart Aerospace Selects Plattsburgh Airport, in upstate New York, as the site where it will start flights tests in 2025...expecting to support an all-electric range of 125 miles, and an enhanced range of up to 400 miles when coupled with hybrid power from a turbine engine..."...Interesting... The aircraft you see below, in my images, may look like an ATR or a Q400, with "four" turboprop engines, but its design and technology is actually quite different and innovative, with its 4 powerplants intelligently sharing propulsion duties across full-electric and hybrid-electric systems. With a "Zero CO2 Emission" target, ES-30's mission is to "decarbonize" short-haul air travel and be on the leading edge of this revolution. We'll see how successful it is in its endeavors. Anyway, MSFS2024 has included a concept version of this Heart Aerospace ES-30, which I decided to fly today. This SIM rendition, though novel, seems a bit incomplete, specifically in terms of cockpit avionics and engine instrumentation. It does have two Garmin systems, which I have made full use of (in addition to the Asobo/default EFB), for my trip, from Aspen (KASE), Colorado (which is one of the hand-crafted airports in MSFS2024, with an honorable mention, see my first few images below on the ramps); to Denver (KDEN), Colorado. We must note that Aspen is located in the heart of Colorado Rockies, at an elevation of 8,000 ft. Lifting off from Aspen Airport's runway requires a steep (and nerve-racking...🙂...) climb to clear the impending chain of the high-rise mountains. Undaunted, however, with the combined power of 4 (hybrid-electric...🙂...) engines, at my fingertip, I've effortlessly lifted myself up above this challenging mountain range...🙂... (see images) ...on the way to my destination to the mile-high plains just past the eastern edge of the Rockies, where the city of Denver is located. I've landed the ES-30 on ILS Rwy 34L of KDEN (Denver International Airport), with its unique tent-like (or mountain peaks-like) terminal roof structure (see my last 2 landing images), a feature I recall well from my 2 RW visits to that airport. It was good to know about this hybrid airplane, and it was also overall a fun flight...successfully completed without any kind of mishaps such as skirmishes with the mountains of the fearsome Rocky Range or the vagaries of cantankerous MSFS2024...🙂... Hope you enjoy this collection of pictures from my trip today, of this (unique) hybrid-electric airplane, travelling over and across the majestic Rocky Mountains of Colorado... Thanks for viewing...!

Thank you much, Andreas. Yes, Prop-airliners are always nice to fly in our SIM. Hope these folks pass certification quickly to be able to fly commercially...I expect to see these airplanes in U.S.... This KDEN is just the default (or hand-crafted) one from MSSF2024, as far as I know, but I've only the Game Pass/Standard Edition now (haven't purchased FS2024 outright yet), so I'm not totally sure... Nice reference there published from just a few days ago...in the Flying Magazine... (used to subscribe to that magazine, once upon a time...) ...Thanks.
